Definitely black, I thinking keeping wire wheels is classic but the black shows off that they are still sexy modern wheels

I'm old enough to think rims should be chrome or polished aluminium, but not old enough to think they should be painted.

03 Nov 2012 16:01Nickel plating was pricey back in the day,and nobody wanted to spend extra money on a bicycle with some crazy motor on it back in the day!
I on the other hand have seen plenty of painted wheels and nickel plating from back in the day! :woohoo:

I like the chrome look personally but not against black...depends on the "look" you are going for. I think you need to have an over-all design in mind before you can make that call.

Anyway, I was just kidding. Painted rims can look really nice. I like the special versions of the W800 with painted rims instead of polished alloy. But if my plan was to build a modern retro of a Z1-ish thing, I'd go with natural colours instead of painted.
Here's one old school style with polished rims in 17", the Honda NC36 - I dig it

gear lever turned up today, so i threw that on and its a tad too wide...
when i tighten up the foot peg bolt it clamps the lever solid, so ill have to take to it with a file when i get a chance.
