Looks clean :) Wouldn't vapour blasting have been safer?

So I picked up Betsy the parts bich today (not really many parts left.....) I'm pretty happy with what I scored but also a little confused
Here she is:

It's got whats left of an 1100 donk:

And someone has welded in some bracing and a lower engine mount that as far as I know the Z1000ST never had
So could this be a GPZ motor? Coz they have the second lower front engine mount:

They have also done the bracing down the back bone, bounes!!!

And I got my cast engine mounts!!!!!

Those braces almost look like the stock 81 and up frame braces, dash looks to be from that time frame to.

Somewhat different bike basically only the same as tha 80 and down bikes in name
my bikes; 80kz1000(project), 77 gl1000, 74 h2 (project)
Past; 78 kz1000, 83 kz550

One could almost suspect it to be a 1981 KZ1100A, the bike that took over from the 1000ST. However, I have also heard that the 1980 version of the KZ1000ST had a rubber mounted engine, but have never had this verified.

got a chance to check the compliance ptate this morning

and fafffi you are on the monet mate!

build date jan 81 KZ1100A Shaftie.

so now im thinking im thinking it would be a hell of a lot easier
to use this fram as it has all the bracing already in it
and the correct mounting points for my engine.

the frame is a lot worse than my original its straight but has a lot
of surface rust but im sure after a sandblast it would be fine.

any thoughts on the frame?

It has more rake and trail than the J and R model if memory serves, but you can of course play with that by how far you raise the rear and how much offset you use on the triple clamps. I've forgotten what frame you will be using? I could check the figures of the ST and A and how they compare, but that will have to wait for another day.

yeah sorry guys been a bit slack lately....

this is the only reason i bought Betsy, to get these engine mounts, everything else was cream on the top:
[IMG

Now she has been raped of all her parts:
[IMG

inside a little milky but not too bad:
[IMG

[IMG

Spares all tucked away for later if needed:
[IMG

Un-related but I put a new tyre on my 640 motard...... getting a little bit of rub!
[IMG

Gasket kit arrived:
[IMG

my new metal making device also arrived:
[IMG

so i have started stripping down the frame to mount the mono shock:
[IMG

[IMG

so things are moving along slowly, its hard when you can only make noise when baby's are awake...
oh and got a awesome score on some twin Yoshies that i will now squeeze under the tail:

[IMG

$66 bucks has to be a good score no matter what country you are in?
