In case anyone is interested you will not see any progress on this build until the cols weather hits us in North Dakota. I will be posting a bit then as I try and figure this out. We have a short riding season and I have a Concours that needs another 200,000 on the clock :) . I also have my 74 Z1 on the lift getting a minor facelift right now. I will post some info on where I am going with that on another project thread. I have July off so the plan is to be done before August and het some miles on it too. The rides are usually a lot shorter than those on the Connie but very entertaining! Thanks for the interest. You guys are getting me excited and motivated to get back to my turbo project. Thanks
Wayne

Budget build means a lot of different things depending on how much tooling one has. For me, I have several take off turbos laying around and lots of tools. I have figured I would spend out of pocket about $300 to put a turbo on my bike provided the turbo can gravity feed into the pan. I wan to mount it as high as possible in front of the engine with a small I/C just below the neck. The %300 should cover a small junkyard I/C, 1:1 rising rate regulator, cheapo efi fuel pump (I actually have several laying around) and some tubing/charge pipes/oil feed/etc. I have a cnc plasma table so I can make all the flanges/adapters etc. I have a innovative Wide band o2 sensor that is for my 78 280z turbo build but I can put it in the KZ to see what's what jet wise and the remove it once I get it running well. If someone had to buy all the stuff and then have someone else fab it etc... the cost would sky rocket :S

While taking pictures of some parts I am selling I ran across this head that I toasted early on in my turbo exploration. Had forgotten all about that.

Thats a pretty cheap learning curve,Ive broken a crankshaft/bent several valves and broken a few pistons and many other parts trying to hang on to bars for dear life thinking this was it trying to back off the throttle enough to shift under a whole bunch of boost! :woohoo:
Air shifters and ltd seats are a definate must on turbo big bore kaw, frame bracing/good 3-4" over swingarm and a good tire that wont go up in smoking shifting at 100mph helps also! :woohoo:

i hope so i have some experience with the t25s. i stole one of a mitsu at the local scrap yard and turboed a crx i had a few years back. good turbo with simple wastegate and boosts quick. it made 265 but kept lifting heads on the cruddy single cam then after i used a multi layer steel head gasket and arp studs it spun a bearing after a year of constant beatings.

Well I got all the draw thru stuff off the bike and getting it ready to send off to lushbaugh so my bike is gonna suck anymore! Well not as much anyhow.I kinda hate to give up on it when I am so close but am excited to do some other stuff to this bike. It will be rewarding to see the stuff I gathered and built used also.
.
This is a 77 or 78 frame. Have some 74 bodywork I want to use. I also have a 76 tank and tail I could use. Not sure where I am going with it yet. Not going to open motor up as I have a fresh bore in it already.
