My stepson is doing something like this to his 79 KZ650C3. He has 2000 ZX7 forks and bought a ZRX swingarm that had been on a Z1.

Stem pressed out of the KZ triples
Bushing made so the stem can be pressed into the ZX-6R triples
Bushing on the stem before weld, and after.
And the stem all together.
All in all a pretty neat process if you ask me, and appears to be superb work!

A question I do have though. Will any aftermarket ZX-6R top triple work with this conversion? I'm looking at a HoHey drop tree, so I can run my dirt bike bars, and was wondering if it would be a direct swap. Thanks!

i did not have to do any mods to the upper triple,so i would think that you would be fine.
i would make sure they were for the correct year and model that your frontend came from.

Sounds cool man. I love the old twin bikes, and I plan on buying one after I finish this bike. I know how you feel about the young age, I'm only 21 myself, but I do have a solid career already PM me with any questions you have, I'm more than glad to help, along with a lot of others on here.

I bought an Acewell gauge, the same one you have wired to yours.
You said it was easy to wire to your bike, but I am a little confused on the wiring...
Looking at the wiring guide Acewell sent, they have a pretty simple setup:
www.acewell.co.uk/manuals/ACE-2853-A-Wiring.pdf
But where they have one wire for a turn signal indicator, for example, my bike's wiring diagram shows 2 wires for each turn signal indicator. What's up with that?
I also am not completely sure which wires from my bike I need to use to hook up to the gauge's ground, clock power, switch key, fuel, etc., again, cuz a lot of those wires on my diagram show 2 wires leading to the hookup.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
