Yea, I'm not a machinist, but I've learned somethings over the years. You see any problems with the design?

no sir! i don't see any problems.
just recognized some fresh machine work and did not recall you talking about going to a machine shop or buddy for it so i was wondering.
what kinda machine tools do you have?
i gotta tell ya while i wouldn't bob an ltd as you have.
i do appreciate the fact that you are doing your own thing, and being a hackfabermachinein kinda dude myself.
i recognize a kindred spirit  .
as long as you are having fun that is all that matters.once you get this one running i bet that you will get pulled deeper into the kz madness.
i drooled over your bike when they were new/newer so to see you bob this one kinda took the wind outta my sails.
no big it is your bike,
these things can be rebuilt from oil stains.
we have very good part availability nowadays.
so i don't feel like you have ruint it,there is nothing you are going to do that someone resourceful couldn't come along and make brand new.
what i am trying to say is build your bike, ride your bike, and show us the pics  .
thats all,keep us posted.

I love the classic look, but I was wanting something different. I've got access to a machine shop at work. We got a DoAll Mill, 6' lathe and and surface grinder. Thanks for your comments.

I forgot about cutting the bell off my header and building a baffle for it, worked out great, sounds good to. Here's a pic of it and the mock up of the forward controls I've started building.

If the chain is junk, the sprockets probably are too. Might as well order them all together. Might want to consider a 530 swap as well while you are at it.

Damn, I typed a whole lot and it kicked me out.
Z1E. I emailed some questions about converting from 630 to 530 and Chris hooked me up with all of the cross-reference part numbers and proper length chain. I think it was $130 for front and rear sprocket, o-ring chain and a T-shirt. That Z1 T-shirt kicks ass.
Nobody else at the bike show is walking around with a huge picture of a KZ 4-banger on their back.
