I pickup my bike on 3/16/11. I bought from a co-worker, who let it set of a couple years after the wiring harness smoked. He told me just before the fire, he'd spent almost $1500 in carbs, ignition upgrades and tank coating. I'd been liken all the choppers and bobbers I'd been seeing and knew this was a good bike to start on. I sold my Nomad last summer and knew I had to get something to ride, so I bought it. My wife didn't mind the price, but she hating all the time I've spent on it. First thing I did was stripped it down and wired up the ignition to check out the engine. It fired up first kick and idled right down smooth. Here's a few picks of what I brought home. More to come to catch up to where I'm at now.

I respect your option, but I actually save this bike from the scrap yard. Also I don't have a couple thousand plus to put it back stock, if I did, I won't ride it. I'm a poor boy with some ideas and just wanting to keep on riding. My very first street bike was a KZ400, I saved it from rotting in a basement and I loved it. Thanks for your comments.

A rescue is a rescue. It will run the roads again. Make it yours, you have a good start. I'll be watchin. The only shame is she only did 18 thousand before she needed to be re-incarnated. The good thing is no scrapyard and no cannibalizing. She was certainly not in that condition.

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

I chopped the frame and made some caps to mount micro led turn signals. Mounted a pair of micros on the front as well. Had to order a no load blinker to run the micro leds. Had to rebuild the front master. The electrical fire took out the brake line and after setting 2+years it got rusted up. The pitcock was dripping, so I rebuilt it also. Today I'm making a new tag holder (horizontal), the other design I had is not legal (vertical). The next thing I've got to do is either build a muffler or buy one, the baffle was gone from mine). Got my seat back last night, I chopped it down, sort of like Proxy's and had it recover (may end up with something else later).

I like it. I have an 83 KZ1100 that I am working on now. Going a similar direction. Yours is in much better shape starting out than mine from what I can see in the pics. I like the micro LED signals.

I rode it home last night from by buddy's shop. That thing is crazy fast. The chain is crap but I'm planning to stretch the rear 4" anyway and order a longer chain. My next project is forward controls.

I've got a good start on my forward controls, thought I'd share some pics. I had some nice Kuryakyn foot rest left over from my Nomad, I thought would be good to use. I took some 1" SS shafting and came up with this design, after looking at several manufacture types of controls. Then I drilled and ground down the Kuryakyn mount so I could bolt it to the ends of the shaft holding my pivot sleeves in place. Next I'm going to make some nice mounting plates for bolting it to my frame. Then figure out the angles of my brake and shifter petals.
