i'm with ya on this rslingshot.
lots of folks can cut and weld but not everybody has machines and the knowledge to run them.

i believe that the clamp goes two thirds around the leg.so that the ends go over center and can clamp.
pretty clean.

grab something that is round but your hand wont fit all the way around, but you can still grip it enough to pick it up.then you will see what i mean.

thats my .02 fwiw.

If you have the capability to do so, sure. It also helps to have a swingarm that is easy to modify. I don't think my Triumph swingarm lends itself to modification well, as it is a hollow cast aluminum piece. It would take just as much cutting machining and welding of the swingarm as it did the frame to fit it. Like Leon pointed out, the kicker there too is that most people do not have the equipment or an AC tig to machine and weld an aluminum swingarm.

FYI Jus, the Triumph eccentric hub is the same for a 955 and a 1050

Triumph 955i swingarm and linkage cut welded and fit into an 1989 GSX-R 750 frame (taken from another web site). The 89 GSX-R swingarm fits right into the KZ frame with bushings, so I think if they can fit the Triumph 955i swingarm into the GSX-R frame without cutting and spreading the frame then you should be able to fit it in the KZ frame the same way also.

Dont get me wrong I understand that people make do with what they have but sometimes its better to outsource.

I wasn't saying it's not possible and I'm not trying to argue. I also agree that sometimes it's better to farm things out, but that kinda defeats the purpose of building it yourself. Yeah, I widened my frame and made new pivot bushings. It might have been easier to mod the swingarm, but I did not have a tig welder, and even if I did, I likely would not have had enough experience to do a solid aluminum weld on a structural componant. In the end it really doesn't matter, a mod is a mod, and means and methods are less important than the finished product B)

jus it clamps on.so if it vibrates loose you did not have the bolts tight enough.
i am pretty sure that once you clamp it down pretty good it is not going anywhere.if they machine it so that there is good surface contact there would be no probs,i think  .
