The swingarm and wheel are both from an '08 Triumph Speed Triple. I got the parts from a bike salvage yard in Long Beach. It wasn't a walk in the park though, I had to widen my frame 1.5" :whistle:Porsche914. Where did you get the swingarm & where are the wheels from? Nice looking bike for sure.... actually nice work on all the monoshock bikes guys! Doug

I have yet to get my bike past 45 mph, but so far, I am well pleased with the ride. I can take a corner in my neighborhood at a reasonable speed with no drama. I hope that my bike is stable at speed since I went to the trouble to brace the frame in so many places.
As far as comparisons go, I can't compare it to the original KZ ride. Never rode my bike stock. I can compare it to my 2004 zx-10r. It is much more plush at the moment, but that's just how it's set up. I doubt that it will ever corner as well, but there is a lot more clearance, and less weight on the newer bike.
I will say this much about my build. I have done everything in my power to "get it right." My whole suspension came from the same bike. (1995 GSXR 750) The front fork was rebuilt with new seals, new oil, and the correct Race Tech springs for the weight and intended use of the bike. This was the heaviest springs that Race Tech offered for said GSXR.
The rear suspension was all grafted to the KZ with the same attachment points as measured from the original GSXR frame. Again, the rear shock was rebuilt with the correct Race Tech spring, new oil, and I installed a Gold Valve kit to replace the stock dampening piston at the time.
I really like the modern suspension since it is adjustable for preload, rebound, compression, and ride height.
Here are the links to my rebuild threads:
Front fork is here: Teardown: kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...ew&catid=5&id=341303

Hopefully I can report on highway speed handling in the not too distant future.

Here's a couple of shots to show the swingarm mounting:
Obviously everything is just tack welded at that point. It has all been fully welded now.
In that last image, you can see the base of my battery box. More on this in the next post....

As for my battery box, I chose an AGM battery of comparable size to the stock battery. This allows me to turn the battery on it's side. The battery box has standoffs that are welded into the frame rails at the back and the floor of the box is welded to the X just above the crossmember for the mono-shock.
I made the lid of the box to accept mounting points for the regulator, ignition box, and the normal electrical panel with the rectifier, solenoid, and four connector block.
I also included a mounting point for a blade style fuse box at the rear.
I hope this makes sense. I'm happy to walk you through any of it, if you need the help. It's all in my build thread which is quite lengthy. I'm hoping to make a clickable table of contents. If I ever finish the bike.
