Seems like this is as good a place to ask as any...

I'm building a '79 KZ650 with ZX750 H1 parts and mono-shocking it...what are you guys using for speedometers? I want to run a classic looking mini-speedo to keep the vintage feel, but obviously gearing n the bike will be totally changed with the smaller diameter tires...thoughts?

I screwed my original speedo cable into my late model frontend and it's pretty accurate.
1995 Suzuki RF900.
I told the gaugeoligists when I had the speedo and tacho rebuilt about the different frontend and they said as long as the cable fitted up it would work fine.

talk about bringing back an old thread - but christ there are some lush bikes in this thread! Also it has given me some great ideas for my build with regards to the monoshock.

Are the original posters still on the forum and if so do they still have their bikes?

Yep :)

Few minor mods such as titanium exhaust, different footpegs etc. But all in all pretty much the same bike B)

that is such a sweet looking ride! Hat's off to you on the build! Out of curiosity where did you hide your battery along with the other electrical bits and bobs? ;)

Thanks :)

Battery is a gel type from a CBR Fireblade. It sits in the rear directly behind the sadle. Also most thiings related have found their place in the back. Some ignition bits and pieces are under the tank. The battery so far back isn't the best option for mass centralization. But the rear is so much shorter and lighter than the original design that I think I can get away with it ;)

yeah that looks sweet! I'm relocating all of my electricals under my rear cowl as I have the room. I managed to get hold of a gel battery so happy with that.

I see that you changed the front forks and calipers?
