Hmmmm... Dupli-color Metalcast Smoked Black.

On chromed pieces you don't use the metal cast ground (metal flake primer) where the paint is somewhat translucent. Only use adhesion promoter over the chrome then paint. It gives an anodized look.

With the forks being anodized gold, it might be too much orange on the front, smoked black would work real nice on that head light....

With the bar being black, leaving buffed would work as is.

Do I dare paint the light.....

Wow, what a beautiful bike you are building for yourself! I am curious how you did the front end conversion. I have been toying with the idea of mounting an R6 front end on my 78 Z650 and wedging some kind of 17 in wheel in back. Did you press out and swap the stems and then use z900 bearings etc.?

perattzi, follow the link for procedure with images I used for the conversion...

Front End:

Swing Arm:

"Did you press out and swap the stems and then use z900 bearings etc.?" Basically, yes!

Also use the forum search feature for other members have posted similar documentations and images of how they accomplished, very helpful...

Take and post a lot of images as you progress for others to learn off of.... We like pictures here.... Picture whores!

Good luck in your project.

Hey, you might be onto a nice option there. And - I didn't want to say - but yeah, you really should paint the light shell...sorry, the chrome is too much on a sporting bike like that. Just my 2 cents.

Update: Cylinder & Timing Gears installed...

Just a quick update....

And yes, I orientated the rings to specifications where the middle ring facing backwards and the others facing front. Arrows on the pistons also face front...

I'll tell ya... Getting those piston clips in on the second clip with the piston on the crank rods was a bitch! Cut the hell out of my finger on the first one...

"orientated" is not a word:ohmy: ...but your work is so dang good that I can't bring myself to correct your grammar.;)

Great stuff. What are you going with on the pistons? And make any decisions about paint/powder-coat/anodizing/polishing options?

Yes it is a word, even if it isn't used much... :P

Orientated is currently preferred use in general British use. Oriented is prevalent in technical use, and in the US.

Thesaurus-Legend: Synonyms Related Words Antonyms Adj.
1. orientated - adjusted or located in relation to surroundings or circumstances;

oriented. orientating, orienting - positioning with respect to a reference system or determining your bearings physically or intellectually; "noticed the bee's momentary orienting pause before heading back to the hive"; "an orienting program for new employees"

For HL colors, I posted in the paint to see what you guys think... I'm thinking gloss black and leave the HL rim chrome...

Thoughts?

"What are you going with on the pistons?"
I'm not sure what the question is...
Speaking of grammar....

Pistons: I hate to 'axe' you, but "how big".
I like the black headlight...maybe that polished anodizing thing that you were talking about. Looks fantastic regardless of direction...just a flavor of perfection.
By all means, continue on!
