Hey Mark, in shannonville are you in some race school or what? Do you need to have all your bolts safety wired and everything, or can you just go around the track on your regular street bike? Very cool!
Shannonville does have riding classes . its called FAST School.
www.fastridingschool.com/index3.html
its about $650 with all of there gear and bikes.(u choose any 2009 600 u like) or about $400 with your bike and gear(tax in).
the track nights i participate in are easy to do. all u need is full leathers, and tape off any glass. Thats it. its just a group that rents the track.
they have 2 classes each night . beginner and advanced. in the beginner class, there is no passing in the corners.
they ride from 5:30 to 7:30pm. u go out for 15min then the other class rides for 15 min for 2 hrs. they run every other week. $65 for short tracks, $95 for long tracks.
last week was the last night. i will go to the Fast School sponsored full track day on OCT. 2. u should drop by and say hi.

What time is the Oct 2 day running? If the weather is decent I will come up with a buddy or 2 to check it out (I buy my cigars on the reserve so it's not out of the way at all) I will have to save up for some leathers and maybe join you on the track days in the future...I will be the fat slow guy lol
not sure the time but it will likely be 8:00 to 4:00.
i can get u full custom fit leathers any color pattern u can dream up for $500 with gloves. boots will run u about $200-300 at GP bikes. PM me if interested.it would make a great xmas gift from mummy.

plus it looks like (if you will notice the front motor mount)that they raise the engines for even more clearance.
leon
There is another "big deal" about raising the motor: the out-put shaft (counter-shaft sprocket) lines up better with the swing-arm pivot (on this bike) and that is an engineering issue that all the little guys in Japan have been mastering since about the time they all went perimeter-frame. The attempt is to get the counter-shaft sprocket / swing-arm pivot / rear axle all in a straight horizontal line; supposedly improves the relationship between suspension and the affect that the power out-put has on the suspension.
...like I'd know... ...this has been the summer of frustration...no wait...that was last summer, so this summer must be the sequel! :woohoo: Oh well, at least the house is going to be 'done' ... and I will have one less bike to show for it!

judging by the chain line id say the pivot and sprocket lines are way out. at least the rear axle is way low. thats why i have to run a roller under my lower chain line. with the chain set up like this it gets tight as the shocks compress, so u have to run the chain with more slack, therefore u need a roller to keep it from sagging . i line up those 3 point u mentioned and adjust my chain snug, then when i let the shock back down i have 2.5" of slack instead of the normal 1.25"

I need to learn to ride using my knee a a feeler gauge so i dont hit the cases though. a little scrape is cool but when i hit them hard it upsets the bike, and that upsets me. then the KAW turns into a bucking Bull. :woohoo:

I watched TaylorMade finish a custom ingnition cover gaurd while I was visiting. 3 layers of carbon fiber on each side of 10 layers of aramid. I'm told they need to be replaced if going down at triple digit speeds, but they won't wear through.
Now there's a good use for that Kevlar fabric that you have Adam.
