I'm a not-yet-retired engineer, of the electronics kind.  I like to think of myself as helpful and mechanically inclined, but I'd say it's probably best to give clear direction and avoid asking for opinions. Questions lead to contemplation, which leads to pondering, which quickly leads to overthinking.  And all progress stops at that point.

Yeah my Mrs is like that, I call it "Analysis Paralysis"  

my mate came around for half a day and we managed to get a few more things done.
after a couple of minor things to the engine it was moved off the bike bench and the frame was put in its place - the main stand was then refitted.
now when an engineer says we will strap the frame down so it doesnt move around,  they arent joking !
 
todays random thing was the original chain oil tank and bracket was dug out and given a clean up.

My Father, a retired Structural Engineer, has always claimed that Electrical Engineers are proof that anal sex can, and does on occasion, lead to pregnancy.

Beautiful stuff here and incredibly quick progress. 

Structural engineers are critical people and get more so after they retire, except we now direct it everywhere instead of just at engineering.

I'm not at all sure what that means.  

I'll take it as a compliment and assume it means that electrical engineers make the impossible possible.

It could also mean they are a pain in the ass,  with weird but huge consequences  !!!

There is that saying that some now consider to be a “micro aggression,” because it extends the benefit of doubt, instead of indignation and conviction from the politically incorrect: Offense is always taken, never given.

If I was smarter I’d be a EE.

I have started test fitting parts to the frame, the battery holder is in with its plastic cup, the seat latch in place and the oil chain bottle and bracket bolted up and foot pegs also.
I have cleaned up the threads and checked all the engine mounting nuts, bolts, brackets.  Still dont have upper rear engine mounting stuff back from chrome plater yet.  
Hopefully not too long before the engine is dropped back into place.
 

I have polished the end caps of the rocker cover and given it a paint with alloy/silver color heat proof.
I will have the engine black, but the head and rocker cover in alloy, because I kinda like the look and this isnt an OCD 73 build.
 a bit of lube and a spark plug bolts in nicely to the new helicoil.
