Does that little red box on the bottom shelf say "Kawasaki" on it?

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Ahh....OK.  I thought you might be the proud owner of a set of Kawasaki special tools.

I had a mate of mine who is a recently retired Engineer give me a hand with some engine stuff.
Now normally retired engineers arent much use and you usually just have to throw them away, but I have found a use for them and helped the planet by recycling !
We cleaned up the barrel, pistons and surfaces and fitted it all up along with the camchain wheels and tensioner etc.

The head was cleaned up, all galleries, holes and threads cleaned out.
New plug helicoil inserted.
The Ferrea stainless valves, APE valve springs and titanium retainers and new stem seals fitted.

Nice work, also very thoughtful to give the "old fella" something to do so he feels useful   (there are a few retired engineers that are members here so expect some "feedback"  )

I'm a retired engineer and I can vouch for what blackozvet said.  I hear it all the time from my wife.  If you need someone to hold the cam chain tight while you set the cams.....I'm your man!

Dont worry, he was pretty fastidious - those engine parts have never been that clean, even when they were brand new !

Sleeves O ringed as well, you using a copper head gasket ?

Good progress, bloody fast actually !  I'm lucky enough to have an mechanical engineer help with my engine, even better is that he specialises in motorcycle engines .....

I'm using a Cometic MLS head gasket.  It has embossing on it and the steel sleeve O rings just happen to fit inside the cylinder embossing,  not sure if it was good luck or good management !
I have never had any luck any with copper head gaskets, they always seem to leak.  I found 2 used sets of them in my gasket collection recently and promptly threw them in the bin.
