There is a torquing sequence in a service manual to follow for best results. Caution, as I had the same problem initially with my LTD and later found that the studs can be inconsistent on how much they project from the cases. I did not want to twist them into the cases and break off the pocket inside the motor, so I installed some Ape head studs which are deeper and it worked. I have checked other motors and found that the different groups of stud lengths do vary on occasion. This could become even more important if the head has been shaved etc.

I tried it with my old KZ650 once and that's exactly what happened to the stock kickstand. I made a stainless kickstand for my SL1000 and do the pivot daily with no ill effects. Its actually quite easy once you get the hang of it. Picked that trick up in the alleys of Saigon, where that is often the only realistic way turn your bike around.

Tomorrow new fuel filters and then testdrive :woohoo: .

Starting it is easy, tuning the carbs is not.

A little bit rough in the beginning but once it is heated up it sounds okay.
Had to change the RPM wire from the Dyna, had 2 options and chose the wrong one and showed only half the RPM :lol:
Also paint is hardening once the engine is heating up.

I am trying to look at the header temps but do not get a good reading.
i have a infrared reader but it keeps showing different results.
Nr3 header is turning more purple than the other ones which are more yellow.

Also the fuel filters are not filling up fast enough to my like, I think engine is not getting enough fuel.
Will be installing other once tomorrow with shorter fuel lines.

The different temps on the pipes. Did you synch the carbs yet? Would that account for it.
Im still struggling with mine,back to it at the weekend.

Anyway,are you going to make it to the Motorbeurs in Utrecht at the end of the month? I got my bike accepted to show,so itll be there in the
metal If youre going to be there,we can have a beer.

i have used the one with the skateboard wheel on a customers bike.no idea how it performed tho :whistle: .

i have heard that the ones with the sprocket are really noisy tho fwiw.

Good to have your bike on the show, I did not know about the motorbeurs.
I have to work that weekend but maybe I can go on Friday, I l will let you know if I can make it.

I did not sink the carbs yet I do not have the skills to do that and intended to bring it to a Kawa specialist.
Also for advice about fixing the head gasket.

The one with the skateboard wheel looks better but I think the other one keeps the chain more aligned.

Don't worry about alignment Weirs, that's what the front and rear sprockets are for. alignment is no problem at all... {unless a sprocket falls off :woohoo: } How much did you cut off the muffler ? I have the same one except without the tag, cheap Chinese but well made... What did you do to mount yours, mine has the same coupling set up ?
