Kiwi Z1R

I won lotto today........................well maybe on the dirty old Kawasaki parts lottery lol! Thanks to some good friends they found me a seat and some front rotors. I have been pondering a lack of seat for a while now and the cost of getting one from overseas was a bit on the expensive side :blink: Postage being the big killer. Who would have thought that I would finally source one from my hometown. Strange what people keep in the back of the shed. Really stoked to have the correct rotors too as the ones I have are from the D3 and even though this isn't a part perfect build I do like the look of all the holes on the original 78 ones. Got a bit of work to do on seat and rotors alike though!

The Z1R rotors were known for the whirring noise the make. Who cares, they look good and are the right parts. I guess that's why they did the offset pattern.

I didn't realise about the whistling. To be honest I have never ridden a Z1R yet!

ive run Z1R brakes on two kz's and never noticed any "whirring." IIRC the offset pattern was so they wouldn't harmonize or something like that.

New tacho face arrived today. Looks pretty good! Can finally finsih the clocks now,

Always surprising to see howe some people come up with smart solutions for not so everyday problems.
Stole your idea for the "poor mans" ultrasonic cleaner.

Legend! Love seeing ideas that I flogged being flogged and then probably flogged on from there lol! Looking forward to seeing your build.

Thinking about filling it up with blasting grid for cleaning rusty bolts and nuts.
Will report back if it works out.

Been a bit slack of late as it's cold and wintery here and the lure of the fireplace has slowed work considerably lol! Have also been helping a mate glam up his big bus like Victory bagger. It's like working on a Kenworth! :S I have got the forks back together and in the bike now though. They are a bit of mix and mash of earlier Zed fork tubes and Z1R lowers. I also trimmed back the Z1R top caps in the lathe so they would fit in the older fork style fork inners. Jobs done. Nice to see something substantial being bolted on! Remember Tony who did the paint work, well check out the paint job (with a bit of hydro dipping) on the welding helmet. Clever prick!

That is about the most complicated construction I have seen so far for a Headlight :laugh:
However it looks top notch and can't wait to see the finished product.
