DobbinsCMA wrote: ya should done Monday. Got my new cases in the mail and it seems one of the guides must be rusted or something. It just wont crack. I checked and triple checked to see if there were any bolts still on it. There arent. Its doesnt want to separate on the back left side if your sitting on the bike.

there should be an extra bolt hole to thread one of the case bolts into to push the cases apart if i'm not mistaken. If that doesn't work for ya get a plastic wedge and slowly tap it in between the cases.

So what is a preferred grease for the wheel bearings and other greased spots?

I use Valvoline grease simply because we keep it on the shelf at the Ford garage I work at. The main rule is that you don't mix different types of grease. Other than that, there are no rules, except that it's description matches the application. (example: bearings = bearing grease, etc.) UNLESS the manual calls for something specific.

Thanks Mat. It seems the frame is done at the paint shop ($630). Also getting my million dollar bearing and the rest of my oil seals tomorrow from Z1Enterprises. :woohoo: The rebuild is happening this weekend and into next week. Will be posting lots of pictures.

Yes, many many pics. This post is what lured me to this site so I just registered the other day.

Not to interrupt all this great advice but this thread is giving me some serious motivation to finally finish my 1000j rebuild. Keep it up, man!

The transmission race bearing. It was 79.99 at Z1Enterprises which was cheaper than my dealership by 30 bucks. After I ordered it, I found it online somewhere else for 12.99 new.

looking at this for a new tach

Looks like a good price for how sophisticated that tach is. Those others are awfully pricey
