Better Than Nothing---The rebirth of a Superbike.

I have decided to use my 1979 Luminous Navy Blue Metallic body work on my KZ1000 instead of the '80 black body work. The problem is back in the mid 80's, I got a hold of some of that fancy Elf Formula 1 gas that the Williams team was using for my Superbike. It was some strange smelling "gasoline". I spilled some on my fuel tank, and before I could get a rag to wipe off the tank, it ate through the clear coat on my fuel tank and actually soften up the pin stripping on the tank!!!! Plus that "gasoline" made my eyes water worse than nitro fumes ever did.

I am now looking for a great painter to redo my MK II blue tank in a matching blue color tank just like the original tank. Anybody out there know of a painter that does fantastic work matching stock factory paint jobs????

Great Bike! Good luck finding the blue. I started this thread a while ago, and didn't really get a definitive answer. Fortunately, I haven't gotten around to doing the paint yet.

Just my luck!!!!! The more and more I look at that blue, the more I want it on my bike!!!! OH WELL!!

Just got a hold of Colorite, the company that makes all the paint for most of the Japanese manufacturers here in the States. And guess what, they no longer offer, the Luminous Navy Blue Metallic!!!! Well that really bites!!! I can get the paint for my '86 GSXR750 LTD that they only made less than a 1,000 worldwide, but not for my '79 MK II blue bodywork!!!

Just might have to stick to my '80 black MK II bodywork. OH WELL!!!

hei Dr. looks cool indeed. and nice to see tires used all the way to the edge maybe the hipster cafe crowd will learn something before attaching silly tires to their creations

MKII tanks are the best looking IMHO, wish i could fit one to my 750...

what are those wheels? Morris? looking for a light 18" set....

If you are looking for a light set of 18 inch wheels, look into find like some 1986~1987 GSXR750/1100 wheels. The early 1100's had a 2.75X18 front and a 4.00X18 rear. The 750 had a 2.50X18 front and a 3.50X18 rear. And they don't weigh much at all!!!

If my Morris on my MK II start to come apart, I might have to adapt the extra GSXR1100 wheels I have for my GSXR750 LTD. I like the vintage Morris wheels Marvic is making, but at over 3,500 U.S. dollars for a pair. I would have to sell my kidney to afford a set!!!!

The MKII is looking great!

A custom paint shop can match that color.

if i could only find a set of later 1100 18" with hollow spokes! the early one's spokes cracked like crazy near the rim.... checks yours just in case
