Here's another one for the KZR detective squad.

Upthread I was moaning that my horn switch wasn't working. Today I took it for a spin and for the first time since buttoning it back up got to like 80-90 kph @ ~5000 rpm and the damn horn just came on, no pushing the button, it just came to life. Pulled over and it was still blaring at idle rpm till I yanked a wire off of it.

You may have something loose inside the left handlebar switch. If that checks out ok you should start tracing the wire from the horn looking for a short. Ed

Thanks Ed. I should mention that I was just going down a straight flat road with no other vehicles anywhere in sight. However there was a guy walking towards me on the other side of the road. I'm in control and there's no danger at all to him but here comes this maniac blaring his horn for no reason. He stops and cranes his neck watching me go by. This kind of thing happens to me far too often

Gremlins. The horn button grounds the horn. There must be a short somewhere.

I had the same thing happen to me in my truck once. I pulled over and had no tools to get access to the horn. brought the whole neighborhood out.

So about $6-7K for new and used parts and things I can't do like painting and some other things. Plus about 100-150 hours of my time (likely more). All this for something that's loud, uncomfortable, dangerous and useless to me for 6-7 months a year. Oh, and any decent rider on a new Ninja 300 could probably humiliate me on the road or at the track.

I think your total labor hours must be suffering from CRS (can't remember shit) Or perhaps it's because we don't count all hours put in because many of them are "fun" so those hours get put in the "entertainment" column?

Yup, clearly I (and lots of other KZRers) have way too much time and money on their hands or at least should put that time and money into something useful like the bathroom project she/he has been wondering about for 7 years. But, nah.
