you are going to have one wild machine sir.

i can't wait to see how it turns out.

are you going to have interference issues with the passenger peg mounts?

it's gonna be really cool,Keep us posted.

I took it to my machinest. He said he wants to see the R1 rear wheel bolted in the swingarm with the brake to see how much the wheel is offset as then that would play a role in how much to take off each side.

He said there is no room for the top of the mushroomto from your idea so he's worried about protecting the bearings.

I will check the passenger peg mounts thanks for the tip. I'm having another issue, what do people do wit the stock gear box shifter pivot bolt tthat's welded to the frame? The R1 rear sets are going to work nicely but that damn pivot is huge and totally in the way. See pic. When people even buy new rear sets for a stock kz what do they do about it?

Hahaha...Ah frack :S . So if its modified then I'm more open to make frame mods then.. :( He did say he used an h2 shifter for some reason.

What about the other side where the rear brake pivots. It's the first pic a couple posts up. Does it come off or do I have to chop that too?

I did check the rear pegs and it looks like it will clear. I wont be using them though.

if you are using rear sets most of them have the levers pivot on the peg mounting bolts.
so,yes you can remove the brake pivot lug from your frame as well.

If you remove the factory brake pedal mount Ill buy it from you.
Just try and cut it off cleanly at the factory welds and get me a rough measurement for reference point of where it was mounted.
Thanks B)

I've been tackling the front end swap. And I have pics which I will post later.

The R1 steering stem:

- is 1/4" shorter than stock.
- stem diameter for upper bearing, same as the KZ!!!!!!!!
- stem diameter for lower bearing, bigger than the KZ
- Stem seal for lower bearing, fits KZ frame!!

Problem.

Easy part, I could get the R1 steering stem turned on the lathe to reduce the lower stem size to match the KZ lower bearing. Yay!

Hard part, in the upper bearing seat in the KZ frame; the R1 stem has threads on the stem where the KZ bearing should be because of that stem length shortness difference. The diameter of the threads is less than the what the bearing size needs to be. Might be able to make a threaded bushing but I don't think there is the width for it.

I tried it anyways and the stock upper bearing fit on the threads of the R1 but it's not long enough. See picks. This is without the lock nuts.

Then here are some moch up pics.

I'm getting excited now. The bimota rear fairing extends further that I would have thought which is a good thing actually because the R1 swingarm is quite a bit longer than the kz so it will be more symmetrical looking.

That's going to look so sweet, I especially like the proportions of the bigger head fins next to the S-charger
