I have a doubt, if all camshaft bearings are of standard size and all camshafts are of standard size, does it make sense to control the clearance by ensuring that they are not tightened too much?

There is a wide range of acceptable tolerances not like crankshaft bearings. .001-.006" is what the book says.

No undersizes for journal regrinds as you would have on a crank.
Cap bolt torque won't affect the clearances unless the bolts were loose which you don't want.
The tolerances in the manual are service limits to determine the condition and wear condition of the installed shells and cam journals.

All the shells are just one std size to match the std size of the cam journals.I have a doubt, if all camshaft bearings are of standard size and all camshafts are of standard size, does it make sense to control the clearance by ensuring that they are not tightened too much?

Hello everyone, guys. I would like to know your opinion about the sound of my engine. It sounds like a metallic scraping sound. Is this normal? I have to mention that the idle wheel of the camshaft chain is a cheap version, could that be causing the noise?
I leave the link with the sound of the engine.
Sound.
Thank you

Is your cam chain tensioner OK, because the sound seems to disapear when your machine revs up!

Hello, the idler sprocket and timing chain only have 35 km. Could it be that it is ready to adjust the chain tensioner? I'm going to look tomorrow.

The spring in the stock cam chain tensioner is to weak to set the chain slack right.
I do modify to a manual cam chain tensioner, works perfect for me.
You can adjust the tension on a runnig engine with the force of your finger tips only.

Edit: need no Helicoil, cam chain tensioner cast have enough "meet". Center punch, drill 5 mm, cut M6 and ready to go...

I could not resist and I went to see the tensioner, I loosened it and I felt that it settled. I'll see tomorrow if the noise has gone away. Hopefully it's just that.

You turn the engine over a couple revolutions with a wrench, loosen the bolt and you should hear a click as the plunger takes up the slack. Don't run it too loose.

Cylinder three stopped working, that's a valve clearance problem, right?
