Available at Cmsnl for 184 euros + shipping. It’s a lot of money! But then again, I see no other way to
move forward. My previous experience
with used pulse generators is that will be almost in the same condition, and I will be wasting time and money.

I do have, lying around in a box, a Dyna ignition I bought for the kz900 some 20 years ago,
but never got to install.

would that work?

I’m just letting my mind wander; but if this problem
comes from the pulse generators, that would make the bike go on two cylinders…. Could have this been the cause for the cylinder hole that started this thread and this bike restoration?

perhaps the guy got the symptoms, and ignored them, leading to the catastrophic result

but i digress… I think I just need to get these new pulse generators

This would be my choice (it does actually list this as for the early and late KZ so what you have for the 900 may be ok) miss-firing could potentially have caused the issue !!  Lot's of guys on here using these

As I understand it "yes" and you can pick up the connections at the plug for the original igniter. Perhaps one of the guys who are using this system can speak up ?

Took Me a while to find the right box, but here’s what I’ve found.

i have a complete brand new in the box dyna 3 system, and additionally I also have an extra pulse “board” that probably came from ebay too.

if I am reading your picture right, I could use the current coil setup if I was to use the dyna. Right?

Actually, as I already have the kawa igniter. I could just use the extra “board” I have and simply connect it to the existing cables.

would that work?

I don't know if the dyna pick-ups are compatible with the factory igniter, you could check the system you have is compatible (contact dyna) with your bike and fit the complete dyna system you already have

Got a reply from Dynatek. As follows:

Decision now is to go factory or dynatek.

my concern on going stock, is that perhaps the igniter will fail soon or is failing already, and spending cash on the factory part will be wasted.

what do you guys think?

Personally I would go with the DS2-1 (either genuine or the copy I posted) I don't know about yours but the wires on my original igniter have hardened and the insulation cracks every time you flex the cables

I´m definitely inclined to go the copy way, as the cost is a fraction of the original (DS2-1).

Do you have the feeling a copy will be up to the test?
