Those look like Lester mags. Lots of good parts on the bike.

I did receive a response to my question but I had to go back with a follow up. I have been finding it very difficult lately to get sellers to answer questions properly.

The feedback from the forum is awesome. Some of you may have seen that I am looking for a KZ650, that is for personal reasons. I also have room for a project.

No, no they're not. See the post recently where a member posted his shopping list? If I recall it was about $400 for a front and a rear. Can't spit without finding Lesters, even the rarer ones (gl1000) fetch $2-$250 for 18" rears.

Past; 78 kz1000, 83 kz550

The 18" rear drum brake Lester is $400 -$600 wheel all day long . 19" Front KZ four bolt $150 . A five bolt, oops I mean six bolt z1 $250
I have two sets and one is the rare 18x3"
A 18x3 rear drum and 19" z1 front recently sold on fleabay for $1100
Realistically $700 a set

Like I said; $1,000 is stretching it, last two sets I bought were well under $600. the $1100 listing was that a buy it now/best offer or auction setup?

Props for the five bolt joke/reference. I only see one $600 rear that sold, it was relisted a few times, but found a few that sold for $200 or so. Lesters really are common, they're the go to for 'aftermarket mags' I've had suzuki, honda kawasaki yamaha and a guzzi with them. I personally hate them.

but that one appears crooked to me --- downloaded the pic, enlarged & rotated for a better view.
Be sure to find out what's required to title the bike. In some states it might be a big pain & past due registration fees may be owed.

Yes there were 77 kz 900s. ;)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

I hate mags so they would wind up in the scrap pile.

Bike, besides the paperwork issue, is too molested for a resto. Id much rather find an original bike in worse condition. Better off just riding that one.

I missed out on a 77 for $400. Bent forks and no title. None of my friends would lend me the money. I wound up getting my pay out two months later. I loved the look on their faces when I'd ride up on Bossie. BTW, we're not friends anymore.

Since it was so close to home, I had to go get it. No surprises from the photos. The bill of sale only is an issue, but as others have mentioned there are ways to get it done if I decide to go that route.

I will have to decide if it is worthy of a restoration, get it running and ride or if it just a parts bike.

Some good points:
Tank is nice and clean.
Kerker is virtually dent free including underneath.
Smoothbores
Key fits ignition, tank and seat.
Lester wheels are decent,
Blue coils.....don't really no much of them.
I don't see any cuts etc. on the frame.

I will add some pics:
