For the record --
If it's a '76, then it's not a Z1.
The last Z1 model was 1975.
The KZ900 was introduced in 1976.

Good Fortune! :)

If it's a 76 it's a KZ900 not a Z1. I'd check it out, pull the plugs, give it the feel test with your finger in the tail pipe looking for oil etc. At that point you'll have to decide if it's worth the time and money to get it on the road.

It's kind of a hack job, I'd recommend looking for another one if he's firm at $1,850 unless you're planning to make a bobber or cafe racer, in which case this bike is a good candidate.

Wait and you'll find one that's in more original condition. It might cost more but you'll save money in the long run.

Well its ok but for a few k more you can get a nice 76 but if it was close to me I would buy it. Depends on how much you want to put into it. I would have extra parts so for me its a buy.

If you don't mind a 12 hour round trip, $1800.00 will get you this:

Its a no brainer IMHO.

SHT, I just came back from a 12 hour one way trip only to go back at another date. That would be worth driving for.

Its a 76 KZ900 for sure. Looks like most of it is all there. Nice exhaust system on it too. What's your plans for it? Are you going back to original or something custom? The seat, side covers and turn signals will set you back a little if they weren't included. $1600 is a bit pricy for my area. But I guess prices have been jumping up and I purchased mine in the same condition about 4 yrs ago, And even then, it took months to find one. Bike looks much better here than in the original CL listing. I would say you got a good deal.

Second owner purchase the bike for $600 in 2004.
