It's that vision that keeps you going, at least it has for me. One year later and I'm right back where I started, a rolling chassis without an engine  I trust your vision is a good one ;)

Just about everybody on here has inspired a piece of that vision in some way. Everytime I see something that moves me in a certain direction, I add it to my "build" sheet. I broke down the build much like the tech forum is set up, engine, carbs, chassis, etc. I also looked at thousands of images on the web for keywords bushido, warrior, samurai, you get it.

If I can realize the dream, it should be something really special.

The LTD is much more straight forward. A basic reliable cruiser with just enough custom parts to set it off a tad. Much more acheivable in the short run to keep me inspired and build my confidence before the much more daunting project ahead.

Once I stop dreaming, I think I will actually have grown old. I plan to fight it every step of the way.

So not much work on the bike this last week, but got a bunch of parts in. Got everything to re-do the front end: stem and wheel bearings, fork seals, caliper kits, master cylinder kit, superbike bars, grips, levers, and a new Avon Roadrunner. Got carb kits from Z1 and othergoodies. Scored on some viton valve seals for $20. So I got plenty to keep me busy this weekend.

Did some work on the shop this weekend, got the pellet stove hooked up, and installed a new light fixture. Starting to look more like a shop every day.

I think I'm about to turn that corenr where I start putting more parts back on than I'm taking off :)

Thats a nice corner to turn, putting parts on....very gratifying :woohoo: So is getting your shop in order! There is nothing like some heat to pull the shop temps out of the subzero range :)

I feel the need to comment on something. It seems almost rare anymore (for me anyways) to buy something and get exactly what I paid for. I ordered the K&L carb kits from Z1 and I am truly impressed at the quality. I have ordered some truly crap carb kits before, albeit they were for cars.

These kits are really well made.

Just felt like I needed to say something as I am rarely impressed anymore.

On a side note... Anybody know where I can score some of the choke plunger dust boot thingys for a BS34?

And thanks for the continued encouragment B)

So it's been awhile since I posted anything. Been pretty busy this last month. On the first of February I took on the 911 Comm Center for my county, in addition to my other hats. Been quite a transition getting over all the "personality" stuff that comes with a big change. I'm fortunate that I inherited some great folks to go with the center, so we are working through it day by day.

As far as the bike goes, I got the carbs done this weekend. I was shocked at the amount of crap that came out of the carbs considering it was running when parked. I re-discovered an axiom that I had forgot somewhere along the line, whenever you have several like mechanical components that need attention, the last unit you attempt will be the real SOB to rebuild. The number 4 carb proved this to be true. It was a real witch to disassemble and clean. I pulled some black fibrous junk out of the passages that I would not have thought possible to have gotten in there except on purpose. THat and the PO had boogered all of the brass parts so bad that I can't imagine why it ran at all.

Once apart, I had great results with a camp stove, a stolen stainless stew pot from the wife's kichen, and a jug of purple power detergent. Cleaned up the bodies just like new. Some carb cleaner and the K&L wire tool took care of the passages. It was a bit intimidating at the start, but was no sweat by carb #4. New K&L kits from Z1 and Bench synched and ready to go now! :woohoo:

Got to head to Seattle for a meeting this next week, but planning on getting into the front forks and wheel this next weekend. Will try and get some new photo's up next time.

Oh Bill, I'm disappointed. You should have boiled those carbs on mamasan's stovetop. You have to test the limits every once in a while to see just where they are.

Just kidding man. Sounds like you have your hands full with life right now. I know that taking over a new to you operation can be challenging, but it's also very rewarding in the end. I used to manage retail stores in a previous life, and I got moved into a good location with a toxic staff once. I had to spend some time gaining the trust of my new staff, but once I did it was golden. Teamwork is the main goal in my mind. Once you have a team, they all look out for each other and their strength expands exponentially. I would hope that 911 operators are good people at heart and you should be able to build a strong team.

Damn, you have a real reason for not posting progress....All I have are empty excuses like "I ran out of argon, now I can't mix epoxy" or "it's too cold out there to sit on my bike and make engine noises". Good progress getting your carbs cleaned, whats next for Terri?
