Thanks guys, I was suprised at how it looked cleaned up myself. Today I thought I would pull the rear fender off the LTD and compare it to the A1 frame. My Intent is to retro the LTD to accept the Z1 style seat and rear cowl..

82 LTD on left, 77 A1 on Right

I will need to replace the inner fender mounting brackets on the LTD with some tubing to match the A1, and fab up some mounting tabs for the rear cowl, but it doesn't look too bad .

As for the seats, it looks do-able, but might take a bit more figuring. I really like the Corbin Gunfighters. Gotta make it work :cheer:

Judging from your pics the tail/cowl is gonna take a little work. Seat hinges and latch look identical. Did you try plopping the seat on there yet?

OK, that seemed to work alright. I have to mention something about Wild Bill, the man I got her from. His real name is William Waltermire, something of a celebrity in the motorcycle world. He was actually inducted into the Sturgis Hall of fame a few years back. Bill was an original flat-tract racer back in the 30's and 40's.

His other nickname is "Handlebar" Waltermire. Bill is credited with inventing the modern buckhorn handlebars as he didn't like the old tiller style on early Indians. He says the first set were made in a few minutes on the bike with a blowtorch and some careful bending.

Bill was also a B-17 pilot in WWII and a POW after being shot down over Germany. After the war, Bill spent the next decades as a crop duster and pilot instructor.

He never lost his passion for motorcycles however, and rode well into his late 80's. Bill still lives across the street and recently celebrated his 93rd birthday. He is really important to me, and I just felt it necessary to explain "Terry Lee's" background. Sorry if I'm rambling off topic for a bit but he's a hero and I think he's worth it.

She's all there!

I'm sad to tell the people that have been reading this post that Bill Waltermire passed away yesterday. I will really miss him. I plan on posting something in the fallen riders section.
