Got the tank, side covers, front fender and headlight bucket buffed out. Not bad for my first go. Won't win any awards I'm sure, but will work for now. Can't go wrong with a black bike. Painting the fender and headlight bits really changed the attitude of the bike IMO.

Started the cardboard templet for the fender elimination, I will have to give this some more thought. After looking at how beefy Josh's solution was, I may have to re-think my attempt.

If that were my project, I think I'd airbrush a B-17 paint job on that bike and maybe include a painted on display of old Bill's military ribbons, dedicating the bike as a memorial to him.

Wow, been awhile since I've been around...Where do I start? Divorce sure manages to f*&! everything, and I mean everything up that's for sure :(

Been in a funk for awhile, and just last week decided to do something about it. So I cleaned up the shop, dusted off the project, and decided to finish this project come hell or high water! Earlier, I had posted something about 1.5 more orders from Z1 and I would be about done. Well I should only have the .5 bit left after my latest order arrives. Got the rings, cables, tune-up parts, rear tire, etc, coming and should have enough to keep me busy for the next few weeks.

Cheaper than therapy I figure. MTF. Good to be back fellas :cheer:

Damn sorry to hear about your breakup. That bike might just be what the doctor ordered. Put that sucker back together so you can do some riding come springtime. No better therapy than a good ride to shut your mind off for a little while.

In any case, it's good to see you back. Keep plugging!

Wow fellas, thanks for the words of encouragement, they really do mean alot :) really..

Seems like I got the most work done last year when we had a big snow storm. Well I'm in luck, as I woke up to a crap load of snow. Whole state got hammered pretty much, with more on the way. Not really a big deal over here, situation normal, but the Seattle side folks are having fits. Job security anyways for me, as everybody starts worrying about the flood potential when it all melts. Keeping it interesting anyways.

Still waiting on my Z1 parts to arrive, and chomping at the bit to get going again. Been two weeks, but I'm guessing the weather may have something to do with it. Once they arrive, I promise to get some progress pics up along the way. I am determined to have this sorted out and broken in by the time the KZR relay comes my way. No way I'm missing that!

Thanks again.

Bill

So I emailed Z1 last night to check the status on my order, since it's been over two weeks. Turns out FedEx left it on my "porch" last week!  :(

I am so very bummed.... I got fedex checking into it, but doubt it will go anywhere. I just can't believe they left it on the porch for God and everybody to gander at. I'm sure any kind of claim will take months.

Aint a damn thing in that box anybody could use unless they happen to own a "J" model. Guess I'll watch ebay for awhile for new stuff being sold from my area. I was so anxious to get started again. Might take me awhile to crap another $400 bucks.
