Following my bike and mine introduction kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...=10&id=218425#218425 I've decided to open a Project thread about it, I know myself, if I start 'talking' about a bike it can get a bit off-topic for a new members thread. ;)

The bike is now ridable, i have epoxied the slightly leaking fiberglass fuel tank, cleaned and synched the carbs, set the points and changed the engine oil and filter, borrowed a battery from another bike and got most of the lights working.

Put about 150 miles on it now, it still needs lots more work like a new set of tires since the ones on the bike date from 1991 and 1992 according to the DOT codes on them (and judging by the grip too) clutch cable and throttle cables because of stickyness, a battery of it's very own too but first I must decide on a different seat because my plan is to put the battery there like it's suppost to be in this model, I've seen some nice ones here but haven't decided yet: www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/vintageseats_box.htm

And put some more padding on the new one as the 1/8" thick strip on the current one.
Must have a new rear light then too.
And at least one mirror
Also different handlebars or clip-ons, these Tommaselli's don't look right, too Goldwing.
New paint too
And some decals
Lose the fairing or get an uncut one, this one is butchered to fit the handlebars

And I'm still not sure wether to 'Fighter' it or keep it more or less 'period'

First thing I'd do is install an electronic ignition and get rid of the points/condenser.

For now the bike is running really well with the stock ignition but what brand of ignition do you suggest?

Went to a small Martin meeting last weekend with the bike, first one is an allmost stock (K)Z1000 powered '82, I was shocked by the value it was estimated at.

Second one is a homebuilt bike by a buddy of mine but that's GS1100 powered.

Third one is mine! :woohoo:

Fourth is a Martin replica (built by the GS1100 guy) with a Honda six engine in it's in dry build at the moment.

And the fifth one is a '84 I believe, also with a 1000 engine and more modern running gear.

Numbers 1,2,3 and 5 were ridden like they are supposed to on a little ride.

what is the chances of getting a better side view of your buddies black/dark blue fairing less bike's swingarm?it looks very good the way that he modified it.it looks as tho if yours had the right fairing and tail piece it would be close to original.which would be attractive to keep it as it was meant to be.buuuuuut it sure would looke nice with some late model 17" wheel's and late model brakes.as long as you show us picture's of your progress we will support whichever decision you make:laugh: .

And here's one of the complete bike, he built the frame, swingarm, fuel tank, tailpiece and the exhaust from scratch, I just hope I'm not going to be banned for posting this pic.

When changing the rotten old tyres I noticed one of the bolts that hold the sprocket and spacer (there is no rubber damper in the rear wheel) was a bit loose, when I tried to fasten it I didn't have a Allen key that fitted  . turns out I needed a 7/32" one and the thread was different too, did a little digging and the conclusion is that I have a set of Morris mags. :cheer:

So that will be a French bike with a Japanese engine, German tyres, American wheels and a Dutch rider.
