Do you know by chance the swingarm pivot width on the inside of the frame? I love the wire wheels! Stainless spokes on black excel rims look bad ass to me. No frame or swingarm mods to make things fit?

Have you had it running/ ride on it yet? If so hows the Fork Springs? Sure looks like its anxious! :woohoo:
I did a 250mi ride last weekend on the new set of Progressive springs, but decided to order some Race Tech Emulators. They will be here Tuesday. I'll get those in for this weekends ride, to be decided yet. Always a couple hundred + though. I'm loving the Fork Brace and the Swing Arm Bracing!

lookin good man.

capturing the swingarm and then cutting out what you don't need is the way a bunch of folks have done rigid rear end conversions.seems to be the best way,if you can't use a frame table/jig.
work so far looks good.
i know an old iron worker that said the way they would test their welds when they were welding steel into buildings was to crawl out onto it :woohoo: ,if it held their ass up they figured it was good :silly: .
kinda the same thing with your deal,if you are comfortable with your welds thats all that matters :) .
if it is not good enough you can always figure out a better way to do it,possibly while you convalesce :P !

you will be fine, keep us posted.

I have the swingarm off my 1982 LTD 1000 for powdercoating.I've ordered replacement bearings am wondering if I should drill and tap it for a grease fitting as it dosen't have one and I assume the thinking was the bearings never needed greasing? I have manual that covers 1973 thru 1980 and it has greasing the swing arm as part of regular maintenance but know when they stopped recommending it.

I would like to know peoples' opinions/advice on the following mods I plan for my bike build: I now have a good 900 block Z1E 123141 with a decent 900 cylinder and what looks like a pretty decent head. Here is where the examination happens..........the plan is to bump the motor up and put it into a frame that will be modified (read - strengthened) with modern forks, bearings, swingarm, wheels tyres, brakes etc. Of course I have drooled with the best of them over Sanctuary's magnificent creations as well as many others and I am inspired by those bikes. I have a '75 frame with no title in decent shape apart from a deep saw cut going across half of a down tube near the headstock, I also have a titled '77 KZ 1000 frame which I would rather use and save the '75 for who knows what in the future. Will the '76 motor fit into the '77 frame? Any minor or major mods to look forward to there?

The next and most important question is about the motor. My options are; 1) keep it stock; 2) bore and re-sleeve the 900 block to 1075; 3) use a 1015 block and bore it to 1075 and drop that into the '76 motor; or 4) I also have a 1015 block that has been already bored and re-sleeved (diameter 73.3 mm.) making it an 1105 and stuff that into the '76 motor. Either option necessitates the purchase of a set of pistons as I don't have any serviceable ones. Will the 900 head that I have fit any/all of the options above?

All the stuff I have so far has come to me for free or very low cost and I know I have to spend money from now on, budget is limited but what I would like to end up with is a solid reliable bike that I will ride in all seasons. The plan is to get some Wiseco pistons for whichever option I choose, get the head ported /polished by Larry Cavanaugh, I will need some better cams and all the rest of the bits and pieces to keep it all together nicely like new cam chain and parts, springs etc. etc. bigger carbs and all that that entails. Body work and paint will be done by myself and I have some of the modern running gear already. I have a bunch of parts that I have ended up with that I will catalog and trade for some of the stuff I don't have when I get to the build proper.

Many thanks in advance,

Likely that wheel was incorrectly fitted into the swing arm.

See link in my signature for kawasaki.com which includes a parts diagram for the rear wheel.

Goof Fortune! :)

Hey guys. Couple of weeks ago I bought my first bike. It hasn't ran seems 91. I did oil change and tried to start it. It was turning over but would not crank. I sprayed some gas directly in to carbs and the bike came to live. So now I stripped it down and going to rebuild carbs. Replace all the hoses. Bike has only 15000 miles and price was $150. So I couldn't pass it up. After thinking of going cafe I decided to do a street fighter. My cousin has front forks calipers swingarm monoshock tripple tree and some other parts from 2006 gsxr600. So this should be fun. Has anyone done 06 or newer swaps? I like newer because its lighter plus all I need is wheels and rotors. I'll post pics later tonight.

Ok everybody its been 5 months but I'm back at it again. I have completly started over. I tore it bacl down to the frame and now thee frame is at the media blaster getting stripped. I've decided to go a completly different direction. I am planning a gsxr front end swap and one of les' swingarms with gsxr wheel and brakes with a monoshock setup. I'm hoping to have the swingarm 6" over. The frame is.goimg sassy grass green keeping the tank satin and gunna put a nice cafe style seat on it with rearsets. Kinda 80's dragbike with a twist of streetfighter. and a little cafe thrown in for good measure. I got some free cbr parts yesterday that ima try and barter with the.local motorcycle salvage and get some parts. I will get some.pics.up soon as she is back from media blasting
