u must measure the offset your self. dont go by someone elses project. it will likely be 1/2" or 5/8" but check it yourself so u dont have to buy a second 1. it depends on your individual set up. Porche used a 1 1/2" offset on his. ;)

You might need an additional bearing to support the drive sprocket, and probably machining on the case for clearance.

Usually a long straight edge placed on the rear wheel sprocket, lined up with the engine sprocket gives you an idea of what has to be moved. The chain must run as straight as possible to avoid bending, as this greatly increases the wear on the side plates, rollers and pins.

A machinist's 6" ruler(sometimes called a scale)can be used to measure to offset from the straight edge.

just make sure the rear wheel is parralel to the front wheel first.

Hey New Guy, Nice stuff! you know your stuff!
About 2-3 years ago there was a guy on here called "irishwill" he made up about a dozen of these offset bearing plates. They were made for 5/8" offset sprockets He "irishwill" does excellent work.
But you should try and find one of these plates from a dragbike style bike to use.
Irishwill was out of Canada, I paid him only $100 dollars and he shipped this plate to me.
And I bought a new PMI sprocket at dealer cost for $69 bucks.
I had this project laying around, gonna play with it someday?
I tried selling the rolling chassis for $500 on ebay, no one bought it!
But do something like this.
Good Luck, keep tinkering!

Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
I SOLD OUT! THE KAW BARN IS EMPTY.
More room for The Old Girl, Harley 75 FLH Electra Glide,
Old faithful! Points ign. Bendix Orig. carb.
Starts everytime!
