I bought this bike last July and a year later, after much work of a complete tear down and rebuild, I am hoping to be done soon.

This site has been crucial to this build, so thanks to everybody so far for all the help and great advice.

I only have my SS brake lines, rearsets, and headlight to order. I have a friend working with me on rearset mounting brackets.

I need to install my Vance and Hines 4 into 1, my Acewell digital gauge, kickstand, rebuild the petcock, finish fuel lines/filter, add oil/filter, install front LED turn signals, and paint the tank and side covers.

Here is pic of the bike as bought for $400 last July. Ran, leaky carb, and leaking oil in couple of spots. Looking at the registration card under seat, PO last road bike (legally?) in April 1998. From the rust in the gas tank, probably did sit for quite awhile in the barn I picked it up from:

When I got her home and out of the truck:

A couple of pics of the filth I was working with. Not sure if this bike was ever really cleaned:

I have been posting pics with all of my questions as the rebuild progressed, but here are some of the latest pics:

I will post some more as I go along. Thanks again guys for all your help so far.

Have you had it running/ ride on it yet? If so hows the Fork Springs? Sure looks like its anxious! :woohoo:
I did a 250mi ride last weekend on the new set of Progressive springs, but decided to order some Race Tech Emulators. They will be here Tuesday. I'll get those in for this weekends ride, to be decided yet. Always a couple hundred + though. I'm loving the Fork Brace and the Swing Arm Bracing!

Looks great gwolever! I know you have been meticulous in restoring this bike. Essentially you have yourself a new bike. Looking forward to your impressions on your first ride.

Thanks guys.

Just ordered my rearsets today from Dime City Cycles. Ordering my brake lines/fittings/bolts today on Z1 once the website starts working for me again. I think they are having some kind of technical problem this morning.

Can't wait to ride her, and I will keep ya posted.

Motor Head: Let me know what you think about the Race Techs and how they compare to your Progressives. If they are worth the money, then why not right? I was looking at a fork brace for about $99 online. I might end up ordering one of those toward end of summer after I get some riding time in to compare performance.

Just 2 years of working on her in what little free time I have, I finally was able to take her for my first ride since completion.

I had what I thought was a leaky carb issue, actually turned out to be a leaking vacuum petcock. Ordered a new set of intake boots, a hi-flo fuel valve, and had carbs tuned by Redline Cycle.

She started right up and runs great. Man was it nice finally riding it for the first time in 2 years.

I will be taking more pics to share, but here she is before I took her for the first ride since rebuild.

Thanks guys!

I was a little nervous on the first ride. I was thinking about all those nuts and bolts I tightened to spec, hoping everything held in place as it should.

Great looking bike, I was a bit leery of the red pin stripe in the earlier photos. If it runs as good as it looks you are a happy camper I bet!
