I also got the yokes/triple tree sorted. I think.
I sent the 2 sets (CSR and ZXR) off for a stem swap but he cut out the ZXR stem and turned a new stem to the CSR specs. Very nice looking. Last night I fitted the Allballs.
and today I fit it all together
It looked a bit of a dogs dinner to be honest,So, after a bit of head scratching I shuffled things around
It looks a bit better now,
So thats it for now.Im glad these bits are out of the way. One step closer to a rolling chassis. All thats left now is a pair of shocks (hard cash) and the brackets to fix them on to the swing arm. Then I can get it off the work table and roll it up and down the corridor making brumm brummm noises.

You certainly didn't waste any time doing that! Perhaps look at the F4 frame and see how they did the shock bracket for ideas. looking good.

Hello Ya'll. I'm new to the site and thought I would share the build that I did over last winter. I started out with a stock 81 kz440 that I bought for $150 bucks from a friends how has a scrap yard. I guess the PO gave up on it and just wanted it gone. it didn't take much to get it run, cleaned the carbs, bought a new starter solenoid, and stole a rect/reg off a kz650 I have laying around. And after that I started the tear down. I sand blasted the frame, swing arm, lower fork legs, and all the small pieces. I cleaned the motor, painted it, and replaced the majority of the gaskets. I replaced the wheel, swing arm, and steering bearings. I rewired the bike and got rid of a bunch of stuff that I deemed not needed, replaced all the lights with led. Custom made the seat pan. Put drag bars on, brake reservoir from a triumph, and a different left handle bar switch. installed UNI pod filters, shorty mufflers and jetted the carbs. I'm sure I forgot some things. if you have any questions let me know, and thanks for checking out the bike.

Thank you z900750sei.
Another question asked was about the engine finish. It is ALL polished. This task is not for the weak, it took two winters pinging away first with a file to remove casting marks, then sandpaper down to 1000 grit, followed by polishing with a dremel in some smaller places, and a buffer in the larger areas.

I fitted a GSXR600 swingarm in my project. It was pretty straightforward.(easy to say, after the fact).
I did need some engineering done. The pivot bolts were different diameters..I gave the old pivot bolt, the new one and the swingarm to a local engineer and he did a great job of matching it all up.A couple of spacers either side and it was sorted.Didnt take long and it didnt cost too much.
For the pointy end I had a stem swap done and fitted a ZX9R front end.
My build is (stalled at the moment as its too cold to go down to the workshop) - CSR1000 Project Build. Dont know how to link to it but Im sure copy/paste in the search thing will work.
Good luck.
P.S. If youre planning to keep the twin shock set up,youll also need to have brackets welded/bolted on for the shocks.

perhaps it was
kzrider.com/forum/11-projects/340793-tes...kz1000-fighter-build
a stem swap will make any front end fit on anything.and use the oem style bearings that go to your particular year of kz.
i have done zx7,zx9,zx6/636,zx10,r1,gsxr 600/1000,katana,zrx etc to kz's.
for the swingarm there are some years of gixxers that will bolt in with slight mod's.otherwise you are looking for something that has a pivot tube that is either already or can be narrowed down to 9.250.
i have converted many but the zx6/636 03/04 and the fz1 05ish seem to work well.
the zx6/636 arm is good for a 180mm wide rear tire.
here is ramtoughs bike i converted the zx6/636 arm for
the fz1 arm will house a 200mm wide rear tire.
here is a fz1 i did for a kz1000.(mocked up in my own 900)
search through the projects lot's of cool bikes on this forum.

06 Jan 2015 03:30There are some swaps that will bolt in. I was a 98 GSXR 750 with a bearing swap kit from All Ballz, my build is in my signature. I would suggest the GSXR 1000 of the same years as the forks are longer. I did not know this when I bought mine. There is a conversion table available on All Ballz Bearing that will help you determine what will work. What it won't tell you is stem length. The 98 GSXR 750 stem is a little short. I recommend taking the time to read through the builds to see what works without machine work. I want to say there is a ZRX swap that works but I'm not certain. Good luck.rattfish03 wrote: 1978 kz1000, looking to follow up on a project to swap swingarm and triple tree. I read a thread about this almost a year ago. Can't seem to find the same thread now. Any help??
Seems that everyone doing this is a machinist, I am not. Can the bushings for the swingarm swap be purchased? Would any of the experienced builders be willing and able to tackle the stem work for $$?
