Hey Mikaw, I agree with the others. I would "save" that exhaust system for sale at a big show or a bike that you aren't going to ride at all. I can't imagine how Hardrock felt when his pipes blued on him. Man oh man I would have been P.O.'d..... Exhaust components get all sorts of dings and nicks in them riding down the road let alone discolored and that it a real piece of Kawasaki history you have there in perfect condition. It's funny this thought came to you because I had the same idea go through my head when you bought them. Between rust, road damage and chance of discoloration I don't believe I would use them, but that's just me. And if they did get damaged where would you find another set like those and at what replacement price?? If the mental stress of dealing with this proves too much for you just let me know and I'll come get them and put them in a safe place for you. Or make something like a shadow box for them and put them on display in your living room! Instead of crossed sabers or muskets you could have crossed exhaust pipes!!

Ouch. I think i would have curled up in the fetal position and been stuck like that for a week. Have you tried to polish then out?

I was thinking all the time I found them I'd be hanging them on the bike and never giving it a second thought. I had them shipped from Pennsylvania and when they arrived I was kinda scared they weren't a complete set. The seller was a widow and could only find 3 of the 4 factory tags. I took a chance that no one would buy a miss matched set. That said, I let the box sit it the spare room for a few days till I got up the courage to open them up and see what I actually bought. At first I wasn't even sure they were NOS, they could have been repops with factory tags. I never saw pictures of the factory lettering. One by one as they came out of the box the smile got bigger. Once opened and laid out it hit me what I really had and how they are only NOS once. The plan for this build is to be as correct as I can but dont plan on it being a trailer Queen, but not a daily driver either. I guess that will prove out once its all done and I see it in the light of day. So for now they carefully go back into the box and I will start looking for another set of something, Repops or good OEM. There is a set now of really nice OEM that im watching the price on but budget is getting low. Re-chrome cost is killing me!!! and I still need a few bucks for the engine build.

No Matt, I haven't tried to polish them....yet. Thank you DoctoRot for that recommendation. I'll order some and plan to do a "Blue job" on my pipes when it arrives!
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

The front turn signal are built. Had a heck of a time repairing the power wire. I’m sure I’d be able to find the 2.5mm female connector but not the skinny long cover. It’s fits inside the turn signal stem. So I finally figure out how to fix them. I couldn’t find NOS stems and the original were really badly pitted. Tripp Plating re-chromed them and they look bad a$$. The turn signal and lenses are NOS. Bolts, washers and nut are original, cleaned with a dremel SS wire wheel and then polished. Waiting on the rear turn signal from Partzilla. Slow but kinda steady.

They look great! I had some done a couple of years ago. Like you I wonder why they put the connector inside the post.

Looks great right? It would be if it was the correct tire. Somehow they ordered a gold seal k70, not a K87. I stressed out as it was trusting them with a perfect rechromed rim, now I have to endure it again.

Not as serious as others here have recently endured but nonetheless a step backwards.

Well hopefully they didn't scratch the rim while mounting it. Are you going to change it?

No scratches :whistle: . Yes I’m going to change it out. Retro-motorcycles on evilbay has them. I want to see if my local Kawasaki dealer can get them and what price.
