I should note that the pics of the tank are straight out of the mold. It has a kind of semigloss finish. If I wet sanded it and polished it the fabric would show up much better. I think I'll try it out a on a spot to see how the resin reacts to a cut and buff. I'll just keep on keepin' on then

I have plenty of kevlar for another tank. I still have some carbon cloth, but I'm not sure I have enough to complete another top. I might need another yard or 2, and I want to try a different epoxy resin. I also have been playing without a roller, which most people who don't vacuum bag use to consolidate a laminate and push out entrapped air, so I want to get a barrel shapped roller and give it a whirl. All in all, I need more $$$ in materials to give this another shot

I went to the city library today to see what they had on composite engineering/fabrication books. Nada. The best they had was Fiberglass for Hotrodders  Stupid library

And Hardr0ck, I WISH these defects could be covered with a few coats of clear. If they were that insignifigant, I would have brought in a dozen herolds to trumpet my success

Looks like a lot of viewing anyway.
That stuff looks way to complicated for me, better left to someone like you, so patient.

Besides there being some great visual aids, there were a couple nuggets of info I can try out. Thanks for all the leg work!

That was nothing, I didn't know if that turned out right, as I thought there would be just a link to a page with all the vids. At least you found it all sounds like. Its amazing looking at your progress, sorry to see the small imperfections. Have you found the seaming together going a head, or will that wait for a new upper half?

Thanks for the link, I had not ran across those guys in my searches. Thanks for the guine pig offer....maybe some time in the future ;) It is seriously so much more work than anyone realizes to make these molds. Once I get a handful or two under my belt it may be faster, but right now it takes alot to make and prep a mold.

On a side note, I weighed the tank top and bottom together......3.39 lbs. Of course, it'll weigh a bit more with a petcock and a filler, but that's not bad :)

I picked up 1.5 quarts of a different resin this afternoon, and I'm gonna cut up the remaining carbon I have....it should be enough for one more tank top. I also picked up a couple of rollers to MAKE SURE I have the big air bubbles pushed out. I absolutely despise making the same mistake twice

I am down to have a set and would be willing to help the cause as long as my wallet holds out.

if you dont mind me saying

The tanks on that site were in the 1500 range and tails from 500 to 750 side pannels were 250 or so

Just thought I would give a base line to start the bidding, I am not rich but to have a stock replacement tank side covers and tail. Priceless! Mabie we could come up with our own front fender to throw it off.

Need help I can take orders sounds like there would be lots of intrest.
