First coat of clear has been laid....

Waiting 10 minutes (per product instructions) and applying a second coat.

It looks friggin awesome! I love the way wet clear looks on paint!

I can see flaws, for sure, I didn't prep as well as I should have and could do a better job if I did it again. But, shit, for the girls I date, it's good enough! (Don't tell the wife.)

Oh, I know someone is curious. I'm using a "China Special" Harbor Freight Touch Up gun (very similar to this one: www.harborfreight.com/air-tools/paint/to...spray-gun-66871.html )

for the paint with a Harbor Freight small compressor. I'll grab the specifics off the compressor when I step back out in the haze of clear that has become the garage.

Looks good. I know this haze. I had this haze today. Make sure to seal up the laundry room door to keep vapors from getting into the house. Mama won't like that. I learned that one the hard way.

Don't sweat the little flaws... Let cure over night then wet sand... If you choose, shoot another couple clear coats... Let cure then wet sand the imperfections...

Then lightly hand rub with rubbing compound, place some wax on her and be prepared to be blown away... BAM!!!! B)

That's what I'm hoping for B)

Second coat has been sprayed, and yes, the wife is pissed about the stink. Not much else I can do to keep that from happening, other than being allowed to rent a real shop...

Can't wait to see the paint tomorrow in the sun and post some pics for you guys! :P

Wives complaining about the smell is normal. Mine was just asking me to do my polyester resin work outside rather than in the garage because of the smell. It's temporary, and something a nice dinner out will help her forget ;) Can't wait to see it in the sun!

Here we go!

Haven't polished/waxed it yet as I want to wait and let it cure completely first...

:pinch: I absolutely concure with OMR, well done! For a first, or even 5th time, it turned out great. When you do color sand and buff, be careful around sharp edges. It is really easy to sand your clear thin on a corner or sharp edge, then burn through it when you buff it. It'll ruin your day REAL quick  But seriously, good job DoubleD

I forgot to post the compressor specs. It's a Harbor Freight 2 HP - 8 gallon that ran about $80. It probably wouldn't be able to keep up with a looong continuous spray at 50 psi, but it forces me to slow down which is perfect. I think it works well for this size work, personally. I wouldn't want to paint a car with it, though.

And the touch-up gun held just enough clear for one coat on all four pieces. Although, if you buy one, find a touch-up gun that isn't painted, like the one pictured, as the one I have was painted and the paint gets all over my hands from the cleaning solvents.
