Once this cures and is wet sanded, I will evaluate the situation and decide whether or not I need a third coat. If not, it's on to the stripes!
In the mean time I will finish prepping my side covers and tail piece and get some primer laid on them.

The second coat of Duplicolor Graphite Wheel Paint - looking pretty good if I don't say so myself!

Got the side covers prep'd and sprayed with the first coat of primer. I have to get some more primer before I move on to the tail (and I'm running out of space on my saw-horse-table, plus the wife wants to park in the garage again...)

Not sure...I think she thinks we live in da'hood or something. The neighbors even have kids who might do hooligan type things.

DD... you did scuff and use adhesion promoter on that plastic right?

Yes...an no. Last time I used it - this time I didn't take it down below the previous primer when prepping the surface so I didn't.
Any reason this should be a problem?

If you're spraying on properly prepared and sound old paint, you don't need adhesion promoter

So the side cover that I epoxied...yeah, well the epoxy is shit, basically. I sort of expected this when I applid the epoxy, but I thought "why not try it?".
Anyways...in the line of "why not try it?" I just tried using my soldering iron to "weld" the crack back together on the front and the back. Being my first ABS "Weld" job, I'm not positive it looks good. I'm going to let it cool and then flex it a bit before I pass final judgement. It will definitely need to be cleaned up before priming again.

The solder-welding seems to have worked as long as I don't torque the side cover too much. I'll just have to be careful removing it (which I'll want to be to keep the helmet hook from gouging the pretty paint I'm working on...)
Anyways...now that it's one piece again, I put another coat of primer on it after trying to work out the roughness my clumsiness caused with the soldering iron. I also sanded the tail and put the first coat of primer on. It looks...well, like primer, so I won't waste the precious storage/bandwidth with a photo of it.
Letting it dry - the humidity jacked up again around here (wicked storms last night) so I have to take it slow and let it dry out. Once it stops stinking so much I might be allowed to bring it into the basement to dry it out.

Okay, first, back side of the repair work on the side cover. The crack wasn't large, but they seem to grow so I wanted to get it taken care of. The soldering iron actually worked pretty well, it's just not pretty when I do it
