Yeah, it must be the way the picture was taken, looks weird. The red in the hole is primer and it makes it look strange on the picture.

Actually the bolts go in from the top. The seat cushion will easily come off for when the main seat needs to be unbolted.

Deacon,
Clearly you have insane skills! Great work. Do we get a full-write up on the whole bike when you're done?

Thank you KR, very kind of you. Yeah, I'll make a post when the bike is done, which I'm hoping is in a week or two. Just waiting on jets and a couple of other parts to finish it off.

Finally got around to covering the seat cushion. It came out alright, no professional job by any means, but I am happy with my first attempt at upholstry. Seeing how it was my first time I just went with some cheap vinyl, not sure how it's going to hold up. At $5 it's no big loss. I'll see how it wears and feels when riding to see if I need to do it again. For now it'll have to do. This pretty much completes the seat build. Next year I'm planning on making a two-up seat, can't wait.

Here are a couple of pics.

Thanks jolio55, here is a pic of it 95% complete (just missing grips and a mirror). I'm going to make a thread on the cafe transformation so I'll post a few more of the finished bike in there.

Nice write up Deacon. I am in need of extending my seat and like the idea of the foam. My question is did you need to use some sort of mold release or does the resin not really stick to the foam.
