Thanks guys, its definitely been a fun project.

Blackbanshee, you should really give it a try, it's pretty easy to work with and easy to cover your mistakes :) Believe me I know.

I you should take all your posts in this thread and put them together into an article and post it in the Articles section under the KZ Information tab.
I think it would really help anyone trying to do something similar for the first time.

Excellent thread :)

Thanks steell, I could do that. I'll probably rewrite it to add a bit more info.

Another bit of progress in the seat. Last night put a few coats of clear coat on it and tonight I wetsanded it and then polished and waxed it. Came out pretty decent. This is really my first time using Dupli-color products for finish work and they are easy to work with and bring about pretty good results. Here is a picture after the sand, polish and wax.

I bought the fibreglass stuff from a Marine fibreglass store. They had a kit there that included a gallon or resin (polyester), plenty of mat, gloves, mask, roller and catalyst. It was $60 I believe. The body filler you can pick up at any automotive store, and the duplicolor practically anywhere. Also, the seat cushion is made from a kneeling pad which was ~$5. Foam bricks I picked up on sale for a few dollars. In total I say it cost me around $100. However, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to fibreglass and I'm sure I used way too much resin. I could have easily made two seats from the kit. I still have loads of mat left.

Also, you'll need wet/dry sand paper and some buffing/polishing supplies. I already had all of this from painting my car so there was no real additional cost here. Plus you’ll need lots of time, especially if you are as slow as I am.
