Nice work. Very well done and thanks for sharing such a detailed write up.
I also have to compliment you on not using the back half of a tank to make your cafe style tail. I have seen a lot of perfectly good gas tanks get chopped up for the cafe look and find it hard to stomach. Projects like yours show true craftsmanship by putting in the extra effort for a much nicer final product.

This man is not afraid!
I love the projects that seem so "could possibly end up a total mess" that turn out so nicely.
Well done, well done.

Thanks guys for the kind words. This has been by far the most enjoyable and rewarding part of my cafe project. I still haven't gotten around to covering the cushion part of the seat. Haven't done any upholstry before so I'm half afraid how it's going to turn out. I'll post some pics when it's done.

Looking really good.
But can I ask how it attaches to the bike securely?

It will bolt to the frame in six points: the four bolts that hold the battery box and the two bolts that are right under the end of the tank (I don't even know what they are there for as there was nothing bolted on mine when I got it). I'll see if I can get a picture of these points.

So your going to drill through your fancy new seat and bolt it on, is that right? Sorry for being a little slow on the uptake.

All of these points will be covered by either the seat cushion or the tank.

Ive got to ask, is that some sort of picture that is covering the hole to your storage space or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Also so the bolts that will be covered by will have to be accesed from the bottom only?
