chewed up emblem screws

Hi, I want to freshen up the emblem and maybe repaint the tank. Two of these 4 minuscule screws are chewed up.
What to do ?
drill gently ?  
I mean, it looks like pretty soft metal...

Mine used to look like that. I just bought new ones, you can go to Home Depot and match the threads and length and use them. I got a stainless steel set for like $2.

I get screws like that out with my JIS screwdrivers, they grip well , Phillips head drivers cause those problems..

Big hammer and a crow bar behind the badge. Lol. 

It would not hurt to put a couple of drops of Liquid Wrench or Kano Kroil on them each day for a few days to loosen up any rust that may have formed on the threads. I have never had a penetrant affect paint, but I would be careful anyway.
+1 on the JIS screwdriver. The proper tool is always best. In case you are unaware, even though those screws look like Phillips head, they are not. JIS screwdrivers do not come to a sharp point like Phillips heads do. The pointy head prevents the Phillips screwdriver from fully seating in JIS screws, thus often damaging the head.

+100 on using JIS drivers. Also, those small screws are usually still available from the OEM parts vendors (partzilla, etc.) and are not expensive. I usually save those small items to order along with larger parts orders. 

If you've rounded the heads too badly to remove with a screwdriver you can pop the heads by drilling them.  You might even get them to come out by reversing the drill.

Take your Dremel or similar and cut a groove across the top of the screw, then you can use a common (flat) screwdriver to remove them.

The JIS screwdriver suggestion is a good one, along with replacing the screws since they are readily available and inexpensive. The Kroil/PB Blaster suggestion is good, too; just be sure that whatever you use is safe for paint.

This is what I'd do.  You can get some real thin "diamond grit" dremel type blades that are ideal for this purpose off Amazon.  Harbor Freight used to sell them too, but I can't find them on the website right now, so they may be discontinued, or just not listed online.

As mentioned earlier, left hand drill bit (reverse twitst)...

best case scenario: once the bit grabs, the screw will spin out
Worst Case Scenario: you drill off the head, and remove the screw with pliars,

IMO, every garage needs a set.
