KZ1000 rear disc - seized on wheel ?

Hi all, 
my restoration continues, mostly dismantling and cleaning.
I removed the rear wheel, rear sprocket, all bolts on the rear disk... but the disk seems stuck.
Should I pound on it with a block of wood and a hammer (through wheel from the other side) ? or is there another step I missed...?
Nothing was seized on the bike so far, except the rear brake pivot seized with the footpeg assembly.

Use the block of wood and hammer as you've described, treat it like a bearing and tap one side, then the other until it pops off....

Only held on with the seven bolts. It’s just got smutz (dirt, corrosion) holding it on. Make sure all surfaces are completely clean when re-installing, the rotor needs to sit flat and true on the rim.

I had looked at the Clymer and Service Manual and did not find other steps or fasteners so I was secretely hoping for that... this means I'll have the licence to beat the bejeeezuss out of this contraption and not feel bad about it.
More likely: I'll spritz some Liquid Wrench on the mating surfaces, wait a day and then prepare to escalate from tapeetaptap to "c'm'on now" to unleashing of ice-cold multi-generational vengeance.

Isn't smutz spelled schmutz ? (I love when people use that word)

Does it make sense to use copper grease or whatever compound that prevents future seizing, when re-assembling ?

Schmutz is a Michigan word that has been altered in spelling for use in other areas of the world.  Michiganites will even alter their own word for use in-state. I tend to use other words that aren't printable here.  Anyway to the OP, use some good penetrating oil and leave it sit for a while.  Then tap off the rotor with a wood dowel or block of wood moving around the disc and has been suggested already.  Don't cock the disc if at all possible and jam it against the hub.  If you jam it just tap it back towards the hub and start again.  Just move slowly around the disc tapping the dowel or wood block as you move.  Rotor discs can bend quite easily if you aren't careful with them.  You probably won't discover if you bent it until you get it all back together or lay the rotor on a piece of glass or surface plate.  Good luck...

Hi Marcel, a light smear of anti-seize is a good idea (not on the bolts) when you put steel against alloy a chemical reaction occurs which causes the corrosion you are up against. In the car world we regularly have to beat alloy wheels off with a mallet for the same reason. A smear of copper grease etc will prevent it happening again. Alloy bodied cars have specially treated subframe bolts to stop the reaction rotting the chassis mounts
