I'm going to upload the rest and put them in one post. Kinda hard to believe I made money doing this but that was 30 years ago too.

If I can't fit my tire, I'll have to stop riding. What happens if I have a flat on the road?

Same here. I've been fitting my own tires since I bought my first bike 51 (egads!) years ago. I estimate I have changed more than 30 tires, and I usually don't have a great deal of trouble although I never really look forward to doing it.
I did have one tough problem removing an old Michelin tire; the bead simply would NOT break no matter how many C-clamps, breaker bars, hammers, creative language, etc. I used. That puppy was REALLY stuck to the rim. Finally I decided to try something totally different. I took a box knife and cut both sidewalls all the way around parallel and close to the rim. That allowed me to easily remove the tread section along with most of both sidewalls. It left nothing much more than both beads left on the rim. Much to my surprise, I was then able to remove both beads with almost no trouble at all since the tire wasn't holding them against the rim. Ed

That 15 year old Chin Shin tire on Bossie was a bear to get off. Almost took my Saws All to it.

Re: Shinko tire
01 Jan 2017 21:19 - 01 Jan 2017 21:22Because in 49 years of riding, I've only had two flat tires.... and both the rear tire.... I'll just pay the $25 for R&R (with balance) that is charged around here.swest wrote: If I can't fit my tire, I'll have to stop riding. What happens if I have a flat on the road?
Steve
One of those flats was a slow leak from small drywall nail in my 71' Triumph Trident... no big deal and I just paid a guy to pull the tube out half way through the side wall and rim... basically fixed the inner tube with a patch.
However the one bad one happened 4-5 miles from home and it was a 3"L x 3/8" dia lag screw and it went right through and out the side wall on the KZ1000. That was a new tire and tube change which set me back $130.00. OUCH
But I was still able to walk the bike home with the engine running at idle and sliding the clutch in and out while mostly walking along side it... LOL... yeah, I cheated a couple times, sat on it and wobbled on it for a qtr mile or two when tired.
That's it.... and regardless, I'm still gonna ride and still gonna pull the wheel and take it in to pay the $25.00! LOL

Rear flats at speed can throw you down. I highly suggest a new tube each time. This is my third tire with this tube. I don like it. :pinch: The reason I used the mallet at the end is that's the time when the spoon can be dragged into the rim with the tire causing a pinched tube.
I had a bad one on my 350 Honda on the 10 with my chick on the back. Went from the fast lane to the shoulder and back in seconds. HAIRY. Broke a spoke.
DAMN I miss my Lesters. I'd have to use leather protectors though.

Hey Steve, They are a bit pricey, No-Mar tire spoons are the best I have found for the price and with 3 of em you can do any tire with spoons from the road or floor. Not mount or demount bar needed. R

I ran without balance more often than not. Went through tires too fast. Now I take that extra step. The last tire I had six weights opposite of the stem. This time I took them off one by one and then added one next to the stem so I have one 180* from it and one next to it. I don't understand it.
