Thanks Leon. I did run the chain and seemed fine except that I need an offset front sprocket to line up properly with the rear. I will double check that its clearing the shock mounts. I wanted to raise the back end of the bike up a bit to give it a "tougher" stance.

Bluezbike, more pics of my old XR below, first one is what i started with. I am probably getting ahead of myself but planning out paint schemes and was thinking of doing something along the lines of the Hondas fuel tank, Bright Candy apple mettalic green with either white or silver scallops.

Progress has been slow, had to order the offset sprocket from eBay so it is still a week away, got the 530 16t 1/4 offset coming with a new chain. I still don't understand gearing with the change of wheel sizes, i am hoping i am going to be ok with running 16/40. I don't expect to do any highway riding.

I did get some electrical bits installed, dyna system installed, points and condenser gone! The leads seemed very brittle and the new ones should help.

I decided to go with Renthal Ultra-Low bars, mounted them with some bar mounts sourced from a KTM which has had Fatty bars fitted. The grips on the pics below will be changed.

so i just recently picked up 1979 kz1000 ltd kwaka myself. i dont really like the stock swing arm much and was wanting something a lil bit more modern and would give the bike a blended look of modern cafe racer. been reading and im guessing alot of people like the suzuki arms. my kwaka is chain driven. anything that would be simple to bolt on with minimum fabrication. THANX

hey Leon. i was wanting to go dual just because the dual still gives it "that look". mono might be a little bit too modernly sporty for me. when you say no upper brace. what does that mean for me? less bolts to put on or weak rear end? thanx for the tips.

Been having a nightmare getting E-bay deliveries through, Offset sprocket and chain still not arrived. The Mikuni,s arroved, unfortunatly the E-Bay seller forgot to pack the Filters and the Rubber intake manifolds into the box so my progress is at a standstill.

Attached pics of the carbs, cant wait to get them on!

These two pics will explain the brace on the swingarm, the black swingarm is a busa arm with brace and the silver one os from a zx6r made with no brace. Should clear the difference for you.

The key difference between the mono shock and the dual shocks is how you mount them, the Mono shock means welding your frame to create shock mounts while using the dual shocks means you can use existing mounts on the frame and aluminium weld mounts onto the swingarm. Thats the option I chose because its the look i want from the build.
