Heres the reproduction caliper for the dual disc upgrade on the z1,its the one that goes on right side when calipers are mounted in front .
It goes on left side when legs are reversed.
Do ya notice the allen head bolts in place of hex head bolts?
People on that site should really do some research before posting things they don't know

Look, I'll be the first to come clean and admit being wrong...Those do appear to be switched Z1 fork lowers, and that was mentioned before possibilities of a stolen bike got mentioned. And yes Wireman, I am "now" aware of the fact that the Z1 brake calipers did in fact use socket head cap screws in their caliper assemblies...That doesnt change the fact that there was no mention of possible stolen bikes until I came here first and asked for help, your help in identifying this frankinbike...I'm not going to share any knowledge with anybody who dances around simple questions like VIN's...Maybe he's an idiot and missed the many requests made for pics before any mention of VIN's and stolen bikes were made...Maybe I'm an idiot and was wrong to an extent...You two MF's were wrong coming at me like the way you did...I didnt set out to dis anybody...I stand on the possibilities of that being a stolen bike...I didnt get there trying to stir up unnecessary BS...I got there when he refused to post pics and the final requests for VIN's to put an end to this BS...I only wanted to cross reference those numbers and verify whether or not that was a Z1 or KZ with whatever kind of forks...I indicated that before any mention of stolen possibilities...That possibility still stands! Now what say you?

One alternative could be suggesting to the owner that he use the Zedder site to verify for himself the identity of the frame.

And would be easy enough to furnish to him the information provided by Zedder about frame numbers on the various years involved.

For example, Z1 frame numbers from 1973~1975 include Z1F-00001~85648.
1976 KZ900-B1 LTD frames include KZ900B-500011~505514.
1976 KZ900-A4 (Japan MFR frames) include Z1F-085701~117060.
1976 KZ900-A4 (USA MFR frames) include Z1F-500001~510340.
1977 KZ900-A5 frames include Z1F-510341~515578.

Then there are the 1000cc models from 1977~1986.

Go look at all the custom bikes on this site! What use is a VIN on any of those bikes? You look at the part.

Might be the expensive dual brake conversion option that was offered by the factory.
The factory conversion option was intended to leave both calipers forward mounted.
Am guessing the sliders (outer fork tubes) could be reversed to place the calipers rearward.

I don't know whether calipers from later models might fit Z1 fork sliders.
