Ok so to circle back, can you fit a mechanical advancer on a bike that does not originally have one and then install a knock-off dynatek kit? Try my luck with Ebay and pre-owned? I have also seen that you can send your unit to carmo electronics and then they diagnose and repair your units, anyone tried this?

If you want to go the dyna s route you need to look in the manual for your bike and the donor then compare the advance curves

also lou's legacy posts are full of electrical knowledge, it maybe just a darlington chip thats gone southbound in the ic igniter box cost around £2 each from Farnells or RC components.
