Yeah, test it.
You could have gotten a defective battery. It really should hold its voltage higher even if you are cranking the starter.

Is it safe to assume that when the ignition switch is disconnected and I have battery voltage on the white and orange wires and it drops to 6.50 when the ignition switch is connected that the problem is on one of the other 4 wires from the ignition switch  ? Seems like the problem is either the key switch or what is being fed from the switch.

Did you load test the battery? What was the result?

The reason you have 11 volts with the connector disconnected is that there is no load on the battery.  As soon as you connect the connector and turn the key on you have a load. It's at that point the battery sees the load and drops voltage.

If the switch was the problem, you would see 11 volts on the white wire... Key on... Connector connected.  The voltage would drop after the switch on the other wires.

You don't have a switch problem. Your voltage is low all the way back to the battery. The fact that you have 6.5 volts on the white wire and the other connector wires means your ignition switch is fine.

Hey there assistants lol. Recovery took a bit longer than expected. I finally got around to load testing the battery, you were correct it was toast. That should have been the first thing I checked and avoided tearing the bike apart again. I found that I had 1 bad coil so I ordered 2 new ones and they should be here by Nov. 10th. I started reassembly and  things are progressing slowly.. I'm currently fighting to get the connectors mounted back on the battery box. The red connector is pinched between the battery box and chain guard. I need to check the routing of the wires again.  I'll keep you updated as soon as I get the new coil in and it is (hopefully) running again. I can't thank you enough for sticking with me through out this process. Your help was paramount to getting this resolved. Be well and stay safe my friends. Jon
