No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configuration
That one seems sketchy. There are guys around that will rewind a stator for about that price but it's not Rick's.

I ordered it. Hopefully, I'll see some results.
I was looking at this one but red flags popped up on me. I sent Rick's an email asking about having mine rebuilt. The reply was that they no longer rebuild these stators since they offer new ones now and haven't since 2010. They don't offer warranty or returns and tell you to see the manufacturer...... And the a pic of a catalog pic doesn't instill confidence.

Commenting here to see how your electrosport R/R pans out. I've also got charging system issues.
Might just bite the bullet and get one from electro sport to eliminate that variable instead of using an old one. fun stuff!

Certainly, I'm keeping everyone posted.
I've decided I should have bought a new one right off. The only reason I bought the used one was because the seller supposedly checked the resistance. If he did his gear was bad.

Z1's didn't have running lights. In 13 I installed them. They overtaxed the system. I went LED's and bought another good stator on eBay. Everything tested good but still had slow charging. Bought a new from z1parts. Same story. Bought another R/R from a late model KZ 1000. A little better but basically the same issue. Tried a new R/R but turned out it was made in CHINA and almost ruined my system. Shorted out within a week. Got my money back but had to pay for shipping. Put back in the 1000 R/R and am running it now. It will build up to 14.5v after a few minutes of riding. I'll buy a R/R recommended here when I can but I now know it's the rotor that's weak. I have three of them and they are 40 years old and doing the same thing. Time to Bight the bullet and spend $275 on a new one.

Got this from Rick's
"Our product has a one year warranty from the date of original purchase so we would not be able to warranty an item that has not been sold in 3-4 years. I’m sorry. L If you are considering purchasing a rebuilt stator that is claimed to be our product you would just have to take the warranty up with the online seller."
Those guys are up in the night. I think I'll send them a link to that listing. EBay no likie fakes.

21 Jul 2016 19:28 - 21 Jul 2016 19:29Thaks for mentioning that. Since you did I on to ebay and found a NOS KZ750 rotor for $44+$10 ship. I had to dip into my rainy day fund but I figured this wasn't going to happen again.swest wrote: Z1's didn't have running lights. In 13 I installed them. They overtaxed the system. Don't worry, I did.
So, I'm pretty sure I'll have this charging issue licked.

I'll be surprised if your stock rotor is bad. I'd test the bike with the new stator and SH775 and dollars to donuts you get 14.5 v straight away.
Sorry to backtrack, but how did you wire the Triumph connector again? Stator wires feeding straight into R/R I presume, but how did you configure the ground and power out?

22 Jul 2016 09:05 - 22 Jul 2016 09:06I really don't think it's bad either but passing up on a NOS replacement for just over $50 would be going full retard.Nessism wrote: I'll be surprised if your stock rotor is bad. CURRENTLY I am wired as follows; I cut the connector off the original R/R AND wired the stator leads with 14 ga wire with individual female spade connections to the Triumph loom connector and sealed it with silicone wrap. I then just plugged it back into the original loom.
The hot 14 ga wire is connected with female spade wires in the Triumph connector with a ring connector to a 20A breaker. The breaker is connected with 14 ga wire to the solenoid post with ring connectors on both ends. The Triumph connector has the hot wire split out to 2 wires so I spliced them back down to one on the other side. (Hey! Maybe those are fusable links.)
The other side of the same connector is the ground split into 2. I have those connected with female spades spliced back to one and hooked up directly to battery negative via bullet connector into the CWS battery cable.
I also have this connector wrapped with silicone wrap.
I'm thinking of running wires directly from the stator to the Triumph leads and finding a matching connectors so it's cleaner, stronger and more convenient to maintain.

I got the new stator in the other day but I've been super busy trying to get a head for my kid's Cherokee.
His head gasket went south a year after i put a new one in. The garage wanted way too much to do it so I get to do it. I got it off and took it to the engine machine shop a few miles away on Friday, they aren't open on weekends or today since it's the state holiday. He called me Friday afternoon and told me it was cracked. So, I spent most of Saturday looking for a head. I found one that I just picked up but I want the machine shop to take a look at it first. I have today off and i took the next 2 days off to get it back in. My wife is having surgery on Thursday so I'll have to be looking after her at least through the weekend, maybe more.
In the meantime I've been fitting up a Volvo fan into the Jeep. It's a tight fit but I barely got it to squeeze in there. Most folks put Taurus double fans into XJs but I'm more familiar with the MKVIII fan which the same as the Volvo fan just bigger.
I'll see if I can't get it in in today or tomorrow. I haven't been on it for over a week now and I'd like to go for a run.

Since I'm waiting for another head to be pulled from the salvage yard and I got all the wiring for the fan taken care of I put the new stator in.
Funny thing, the resistance between wires was 1.5 Ω.
I put it in and measured 88-90 VAC @ approx 6000 rpm.
I plugged it into the loom and I was getting between 11.5 - 11.75 VDC at idle. I was getting about 12.25 to about 12.5 VDC and slowly climbing at 5k+. This was with the SH775, I haven't tried it with a MOSFET yet, it's actually a FH012. I looked at a bunch of them and lost track of which was which.
This is after testing a couple of stators for AC voltage without them being hooked up so I'm putting the battery charger on for awhile and see what that does. The rotor isn't supposed to be here for a few more days.
