Resistance checks are another false indicator, unless the resistance is out of spec. Those two weak stators I had both checked at the edge of the service limit, and my brand new Rick's stator did too.
Gotta start somewhere. The one I'm getting is supposed to be right in the middle.
It seems like the only way to be sure a stator is good is to have a room full of special equipment, especially if it's off the vehicle. Otherwise it's a matter of putting it on and hoping it works.

I gather you didn't try your stoch R/R to see if there was any difference.

No point in wasting the time rewiring to get back to where I started. It sucked then why wouldn't it suck now?
I'm going to wait for another SH775. Plug it in and see what happens. Plug in the stator that's on the way and see if it improves more.

Well, the first day was about the same with the other R/R. Which to me means there was nothing wrong with the first one. I'll see what happens over the weekend. If it does continue to function similarly I'm going to contact the seller and have him send me a PP invoice for $40 and I'll pay for the replacement since they shipped it priority.
I would like to point out that I'm still getting better results than the original.
I'm curious about any improvements I'll have with the stator I have on the way. If it doesn't improve well enough I think I'll try a MOSFET unit. From surfing ebay I have found TONS of Shindengen FH units that are identical plug configurations to the SH775 so they would be plug and pay with the wiring I've done. I've even low balled a few best offer listings already.
There were so many results for that type of R/R that I narrowed my search by using the search term "Kawasaki Regulator" and still there are thousands. I've found the FH units like the SH775 are the FH010, FH012 and FH020 found on the bigger Ninjas and Concourses. Is there a particular one I should get or are they pretty much the same?

Well, crap!
I now have a FH020 on the way for $25 shipped.
I also have told the seller of the SH775 I will pay for both. We'll see what happens.
SH for road trips, FH for everyday?

The difference in the FH units is the current capacity. Our KZ charging systems don't put out tons of power so just about any of them would be fine. That said, I think you are throwing good money after bad if you purchase one.

Just checked my bike and it puts out 14.25 volts at 2000 rpm. If the SH parts are less efficient at low rpm it doesn't show.

Re: I think I need a new voltage regulator.
16 Jul 2016 14:41You are also using an aftermarket high output stator. My stator is obviously tired. Hopefully the one I'm getting isn't as tired. If worse comes to worst I'll get the super stator.Nessism wrote: Just checked my bike and it puts out 14.25 volts at 2000 rpm. If the SH parts are less efficient at low rpm it doesn't show.
As for good money after bad... I'm probably going to go back down this path with my shaftie so I'll already have most the options on hand. Once I get past that i'll pass on what I don't use.
