As for good money after bad... I'm probably going to go back down this path with my shaftie so I'll already have most the options on hand. Once I get past that i'll pass on what I don't use.
I'm pretty sure Rick's stators are not high power. That's one of the reasons I bought it. At least they don't advertise as high power, and I think they would if they were.

It may not be high output compared to some stators (like Suzuki) but Ill bet they are higher output than standard Kawasaki's. That's probably why you're getting such good results with the SH775.
I got my "good" stator in today. The resistance readings ere 1.5 and 1.4 ohm range I mounted it and it was only getting 52 VAC at about 6500 rpm.
I'll wait for the MOSFET and see what that does for me.

You're going through the school of hard knocks my friend. You bought a bad stator. I wish I had saved my old stators because they made about 13.7 volts DC which would be a big improvement from where you are at right now. The FH MOSFET R/R ain't gonna do anything to help the situation.

I was posting on your ebay box-o-junk thread, and it occurred to me... you aren't using a Dyna S by chance are you?
There is a long history of Dyna S giving problems on single-phase Kz650's. Not all of them, just a percentage of them. Replacing the stators and reg/rec's wouldn't fix the problem.
It was assumed there was a batch of stators or rotors that made it out of the factory with slightly weaker output. This was fine until a Dyna S is installed. The Dyna S draws about twice the power as a stock points ignition, and much more if 3 ohm coils are used.
It still doesn't quite make sense, though, because one solution was to convert them to 3-phase using 750 parts, and that's what you have, presumably.

Apparently.
I contacted the seller and he said he would send everything he had to me...

I know he's just trying to provide good service but i don't know what to tell him.
I found a rebuilt Rick's stator, I'm wondering if I should get that one or maybe I should send one to Rick's for rebuild. I went to their web site but they don't have one listed for my bike. I currently have 2 extra to send them now.

I do have a Dyna S w/3 ohm coils. Everything else is presumably stock except what has been discussed here.
I've had them on for quite awhile and I couldn't say whether there was any change when I put them on or not.

20 Jul 2016 06:44The Rick's part numbers are the same too. They don't show prices for rebuilding stators or "remanufactured" ones. They do have info about core returns. Maybe if you don't drive at night much, you can put a 10amp toggle switch in somewhere to turn the headlight on or off.
Also, a two three ohm 50 watt power resistor only cost a couple three dollars and you can put it in series with your battery voltage to the coil's ...that will reduce the current draw a little bit too. Then you can check to see what the output voltage is to just see if your ignition system is drawing too much current for your charge system.

I believe always on became mandatory in 81.
I've actually been messing with headlight wiring of late. I'll spare the details but the reserve system was causing major issues so I deleted it.
I'm actually planning on adding LED road lights and s second set of dual element running lights.
Besides asking for a ticket, reducing visibility with the drivers around here is a death wish.

MOSFET R/R is in AAAAAAAAAND.... nothin'.
Same numbers with either type of R/R. I guess this means my stator is dying. OK. I'll start looking for a stator I know will be good.
I'll put Rick's at the top of my list Nessism. My bike budget is getting seriously tight. You can have one of the SH775s for what I paid for it. $35 shipped. And tell someone to buy some of my take off parts.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configuration
PM me your paypal address and I'll take one of those SH775's off your hands.
Regarding a stator, I'd look for a new one but cheaper than a Rick's if money is tight. This ElectroSport has a 1 year warranty. That seems reasonable for $81.50 shipped.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThanks,
I ordered it. Hopefully, I'll see some results.
I was looking at this one but red flags popped up on me. I sent Rick's an email asking about having mine rebuilt. The reply was that they no longer rebuild these stators since they offer new ones now and haven't since 2010. They don't offer warranty or returns and tell you to see the manufacturer...... And the a pic of a catalog pic doesn't instill confidence.
