I will go check the oil level now. If the fuel was left turned on and the fuel leaked out of the carbs, could it get into the crankcase ?

I just checked the oil level and it is normal and the oil does not have a gas smell to it. I guess I can rule out fuel getting into the crankcase ?

Yep it probably ran out the overflows into the airbox or pods if you have them.
After reading your other thread I suspect that you have an electrical issue that is preventing your bike from starting. I would be looking for a loose ground or a hot wire that was shorted to ground. If you are blowing the main fuse that tells me you have a short somewhere. You probably jostled a dodgy connection when you removed the tank. There are a lot of bullet connectors under there. Maybe a 12v positive came loose an it is grounding to the frame? When you hit the key it blows the main fuse right?

It was originally blowing the fuse. I did find a wire that was exposed that I think was graning again the bottom of the tank. I corrected that issue. I noticed when I put the tank back on that the head light does not work now either. I checked the bulb and it is good. All of the other lights work along with the turn signal. I have taken the tank off and checked for loose/broken/disconnected wires and have not been able to find any yet. I am trying figure out if the not starting issue and the head light are related ? Something not getting power that is needs for the bike to start ?

You should be able to download a copy of your wiring diagram at that link. If it were me, I would pull the headlight and have a look at those connections just to rule that out. Next you could have a problem in your right side switch pod. It's obvious that this part has been replaced somewhere along the way on your bike. Your original would have had an on/off switch for the headlight. The kill switch and starter button are in the same pod, and it is easy to pinch wires in there. That's my best hunch.

I will do that. Is there any wiring in the head light assembly that would stop the bike from starting ?

I'm not positive on that model, but sometimes the wires that come from the dash are stuffed in there. In that case you could have wires that come off the ignition switch in there. Also if anything that was hot with the key on got shorted to ground in there, then that could do it.

OK, I will start checking the wiring diagram. I am trying to think what needs to have power to it for the bike will start, other than the coils. I am new to this so I am learning as I go along.

The petcock has two nipples on it. One has been plugged since I got the bike and the other one connects to the carbs.

I think it is something electrical. I am going to start with the head light and trace back the wires to see if I can find where the problem is. I suspect that the starting issue and the head light are related.
