more wiring questions, mini blinkers was created by newowner79kz750b1
still trying to wire up my mini NON led blinkers to my kz750. i can get them to all come up but can not get them to blink. also switched to an electronic flasher relay.
The 2 front lights are mounted to brackets ground the housing of the lights to the frame.
The front lights have 2 positive wires, one that goes to the back that supplies power to the rear blinkers.

The 2 rear lights housing are grounded to the frame. With 1 wire connected to the front for power. The other wire is a ground that doesnt seem to make a difference if its grounded or not.

The turn signal indicators stay on with the key on.
And on the flasher relay one wire tests a constant hot, and the other wire turns on and off with the turn signal switch.

everything is order from the left top row to the right.

here are the lights that i am trying to hook up

Front indicator lights

front blinkers

rear blinkers

me and my buddy are stumped so everyones help is greatly appreciated!

That sounds like an issue with the flasher wiring, not so much the lights. What flasher are you using?

Are you using the existing wiring for the old lights as well as the old flasher or is this a complete rewire? That flasher should just plug in...strange.

i am using the old wiring for the blinkers, and the new flasher does plug in. its just a higher output flasher.

I am not finding anything about the expected load on the Tridon EL12 - are you sure it's compatible with LED lights? Does it function properly if you wire up an incandescent bulb temporarily?

Most of these elctro-mechanical flashers require a higher load than LED's create.

my lights are not LED.the mini blinkers that i have are incandescent and the el21 flasher is supposed to work for leds if i did have led. its an electronic flasher that is supposed to flash no matter how much load is on it. rather its one light or four lights.

Check the wiring for broken wires or loose connectons.

Color Codes On Most Kawasaki’s (written for 1980’s bikes)

HEADLIGHT
RED with BLACK stripe, High Beam.
RED with YELLOW stripe, Low Beam.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.

BRAKE/TAIL LIGHT Can be an # 1157 dual filament bulb
RED, Running or Tail Light.
BLUE,(sometimes with a Red stripe) Brake Light Circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.

LEFT FRONT TURN SIGNAL Can be an #1157 dual filament bulb
GREEN, Left front turn signal circuit.
BLUE, Left front running light circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.

RIGHT FRONT TURN SIGNAL Can be an # 1157 dual filament bulb
GREY, Right front turn signal circuit.
BLUE, Right front running light circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.

LEFT REAR TURN SIGNAL Can be an #1156 single filament bulb
GREEN, Left rear turn signal circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.

RIGHT REAR TURN SIGNAL Can be an #1156 single filament bulb
GREY, Right rear turn signal circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.

I'd get a mutimeter and test the sockets for voltage & see if there is a good ground connection. Most Kawasaki's had rubber vibration mounts, this may be preventing your new lights from working....

checked the wiring and everything seems ok. what do u mean by checking the sockets? also we mounted the lights where there are no bushings just to make sure that wasent causing the problem and still cant seem to get them to flash.

Take the multimeter and see if the light bulb socket has power with the bulb removed. Put the Red probe on the socket and the Black probe on either a good frame ground or the battery Negative(-) terminal. The meter needs to be set to VDC(Volts, Direct Current) range of 20.

The setting range of 20, refers to the maximum range of voltage at this setting, so not to overload the meter. At this setting,if the voltage is lower, it should still indicate on either a Analog(moving needle or pointer) or Digital multimeter.
